BEG Nasal Spray/ Sinus issues and MARCoNS test

I have had issues with thick post nasal drip on and off for over a year now, mostly when I start a new antibiotic it seems to start draining again for a day or so then disappears.

My Dr tested me for MARCoNS, and luckily the test came back negative but did say I have a staph infection in my nose (not resistant to antibiotics). He still prescribed me BEG spray through a nebulizer. Is this treatment a little too harsh since it's not MARCoNS?

I'm trying to google it and it seems like staph actually is pretty common to have in your nose.

I would think you could use a xylitol nasal spray and accomplish the same. I make my own and keep it in the fridge for the week and make a new batch weekly.

+1 on xylitol. I've used the BEG spray, it works (I had the non-resistant staph)

Thank you both. @caramba, how bad was the BEG treatment? I've read horrible things which is what made me question this in the first place for non-resistant staph.
