Ceruloplasmin and Hypogammaglobulinemia

Hello, my child (Igenex positive) also has a new test showing low Ceruloplasmin and also Hypogammaglobulinemia. I am trying to determine if either of these are common with Lyme or Coinfections, or if they are stand alone issues that are unrelated. Anyone know the answer? (I have done a ton of online searching and not found the answer I am looking for).

I'm sorry that your child has lyme disease.

I hadn't heard of those two terms..so looked them up.

The low ceruloplasmin (copper)

"Copper is an essential mineral that performs vital roles in the body. about 95% of the copper in the blood is bound to ceruloplasmin."
So your son is low in copper?

Hypogammaglobulinemia -

"...an immune disorder characterized by a reduction in all types of gamma globulins, including antibodies that help fight infection"


I haven't heard about the low ceruloplasmin with lyme patients...BUT - maybe we aren't getting tested for it either.

Also hadn't heard of the Hypogammaglobulinemia - again...are we even getting tested for it?


What does the Dr. say about those tests and why did he want those ones in particular done?

Many lyme patients seek ivig .many immune complexes are made in the marrow and it is one of the sites of infection with lyme bartonella.also some abx can effect this .causing aplastic anemia (bactrim ,chemo ,florouquinalones) .dr k treats kpu with copper and says lyme patients are always low ...here is his presentation /www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z3kRDYcvhA

I have chronic Lyme disease and subsequent hypogammaglobulinemia.
The Lyme went undetected for over 20 years. I receive Privigen every 28 days for the past 38 months. If I was young, I could have received a bone marrow transplant.The infusions worked better than anything else. Hopefully, you can get to an immunologist that does immunoglobulin infusions. Its like night and day.

At first my Doctor put me on extreme iv daily dosage antibiotics for a month or so. I am allergic to most all of them and I have suffered from MRSA.(That was worse than cancer for me) I am a 14 year cancer survivor, twice, cervical and nasal. Then Privigen every 28 days. Only a random infections, maybe 3 over the course of 3 years. Also my allergies are almost non-existent.
previously, I had been misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia,lupus, chronic fatigue, arthritis, etc, etc. One reason they missed it for 27 years is they only test for california ticks and doctors either not listening to where I had lived and worked or sending the bloodwork to sub-standard labs. 50 doctors and 22 years later i'm better.
If they would have been more through years ago, I could have had it cured. Too old now and the bcells are damaged.

So - you aren't treating the Lyme and co's infections then?


Are herbals (since you can't do antibiotics) an option?

'bcells are damaged' - what are they? (are you talking about white blood cells?)

How do they test to find that out (damage) ?

I do take antibiotics if necessary. I think there is one left so far. However, my infections are now 2-3 a year usually teeth or gums and iv antibiotics are easier on my body. I also take fluconazole after the antibiotics and plenty of water and probiotics. I had my genetics done and 18b has a notch in it. Im 65, so insurance wont pay for gene therapy. also my doctor said it probably would be a waste because when youre older and sick it takes so long to heal, combined with having to take immunosuppressants ( for gene therapy) while my own body is not producing enough immunity.
