Cyst on Brain

I had an MRI last week and they called today to tell me they found a small cyst on my brain.

I can't stop crying. I'm so scared!!

Can this happen with Lyme?

I don't know any other details yet. I go tomorrow for appointment with neurologist and then they are referring me to another neuro type Dr who I think will do more testing.

Someone help with any info you may have!!

ya bartonella is the one that likes to form cysts as well. for me it was toxoplasmosis...consider rife and bvt ,,,dont fear it wont help ..and i caution against chemo radiation or surgery ...chop the roots and the tree will fall

Hi,
Im sorry to hear about the cyst, I am not familiar with this but am offering my support.

I'm hoping that tomorrow your Neurologist will help explain all of this to you.

Is your neurologist understanding of Lyme and the co infections?

I understand how upset you are but hang in there and it will be best to get more information tomorrow and see what is going on.

We are here for leaning on so don't be afraid of posting more.

A cyst is not cancer!!! It is just a cyst.

I know how scared you are. Honestly I do. And I can tell you it will be alright, but you will still be scared.

I had a test once and they said I had an unidentified mass with metastases all up and down my intestines. I was scheduled for surgery. All my relatives came to town.

I had 3 surgeons. One for the bowled resection, one gyno in case he was needed and a standby for both of them.

The best news was that it was a benign mass. No metastases and all stuff clear. They did have to remove some parts to get to the mass, but that was fine with me. No resection of the bowel.

So, I will put you on my prayer list and you will travel far and wide with my praying friends and family. Just know that you are being well prayed for.

I found this if you get a cyst and it is removed or they do biopsy if you have Lyme and co. a members nephew
on lymenet had Lyme and this arachnoid cyst on the brain. It sounded like it was going to be treatable.

From Lymenet:
The thing to do is make sure you get a pathology report if they go in. Make sure it includes extensive spirochetal testing if you are concerned about Lyme. The surgeons and pathologists will not normally check for lyme as a possible cause for arachnoid cyst unless you nag them. the testing should include microscopy, culture, PCR of affected tissues for Bb presence.

Thank you all for your response! You have helped me feel better!

Now to put on my big girl panties and stop crying long enough to get to the appointment tomorrow.. so I can get this all figured out!

I will update once I know more.

Thank you Lyme friends I never even knew exsisted just a few months ago.. I'd be even more crazy without you guys right now!!

for me its toxo too - this chronic infection results in huge amount of cysts in brain .. together with chronic brain inflammation.

bluelyme, did your toxo IGG number dropped? - I've read in research article that there is a relationship between overall number of brain cysts and igg titre. thanks.

It is a small pineal cyst.

Referring me to neurosurgeon.

Still very nervous and scared. 😢🙏🏼

Check this out, it may make you feel a little better. Still i know it has to be scarey but this says it can be found in up to 10% people who have mri. Most of the time no treatment is necessary and it doesn't cause any problems. I bet that will be you. Try not to worry about it(easy for me to say) at least until you talk to your neurosurgeon. Think positive you've got this.

If they're asymptomatic - no.

Pay special attention to what Goshawk said.

and know that I am not trying to freak you out, I am just being straight with you. You deserve to know the truth.

Ask your doctor if there is any chance the cyst can be helped by Albendazole. If you can find out how many milligrams and how long you would have to take it. As many specific details as possible.

Most doctors will not want to prescribe this but you are going for the hypothetical "if there were no politics involved in prescribing the medication answer" to get as much information as you can.

Make sure he knows up front that you will not pressure him to prescribe it so you can get an honest answer. In my opinion the US is currently in denial of a growing number of infections by parasites. More often than not they will not tell you if the cyst is from a parasite, so dont press the issue.

This medication is often taken in 14 day on and off cycles. Side effects are likely if taken longer, so this is the safest way to take it.

In the case of hytadid (pork tapeworm cysts in the brain) I have seen it taken up for up to 6 weeks consecutively. I am NOT suggesting you have this. Doctors should be able to rule this out.

This medicine is super expensive in the states but can be gotten from reliable overseas pharmacies for a lot cheaper.

Visible cysts are not the cyst or seed form of bacteria.

They dont always need to be removed. Sometimes the risk of surgical removal outweighs the reward. Sometimes the body will calcify the cyst and sometimes it needs help from medication to make sure the cyst dies and does not progress.

This medication has helped a few people here. myself included.
