I am having throat issues. I feel like there is something stuck in the back of my throat most of the time. I can also only eat soups and broths because I am experiencing a heaviness in my chest (like the food can't move down). I burp after eating and even drinking water.
After researching this site a little, people mention being hypothyroid and sometimes experiencing these symptoms. But I am hyperthyroid. I have not started med. I see dr. Weds.

Any ideas as to help this symptom? I am not on antibiotics, yet.

I did test positive for Bart.
I am grateful for all the help people share. It was helped me immensely these past few weeks.

I also had the sensation of a lump in my throat for many months.

I thought I was hypothyroid...but my labs came up good. I have a very low TSH but not in the hyper range
(ranges from 0.4 to 0.55)


I hope that treatment alleviates that 'lump' for you quickly.

It did for me.

Reading mom - back in 2012 when my symptoms first appeared (was not diagnosed until June 2016) I had a globus sensation in my throat. I also had a host of other symptoms. I had plenty of test including endoscopy, laryngospies, 24 hour ph monitor and a barium swallow test. All were negative. My symptoms subsided after a few months and then new symptoms appeared maybe six months later. More testing of various types all were negative.

For the past three months I have had the throats symptoms against amongst others - primarily neurological. I currently on abx and supps but still feel miserable. FYI no thyroid issues.

Lyme is a strange disease. I hope your docs can provide more info on where you should start but rest assured, others are probably going through something similar who can provide some comfort through posts on this forum.

I have the same throat thing. Kinda gets better then gets worse. No idea why.

I'm hypothyroid, and I have weird throat sensations. I even have a weird clicking sensation when I swallow sometimes. I'm currently treating, and the sensations come and go. It seems to be worse when I'm tired.

Annoying as all get out, but I just keep telling myself, "oh well. Lyme again." I sure hope I'm right that it's Lyme related.

Oh, I forgot to mention - I had a barium swallow X-ray and nothing was found. Then I went to an ENT Dr. and he put a tube (with a camera) through my nostril and down my throat. I first chewed on a biscuit and swallowed, then a drink of water.
He also found nothing wrong. (I was having a good day that day.)

I've also had at least three thyroid tests - not just the TSH, but also FT3 and FT4.


Mine is gone for the most part...comes back every now and then.

I also can hear a crunchy sound when I gently push on the left side of my neck/throat area.

How do we not go crazy with all these symptoms we experience. We certainly have to deal with a lot.

The burping part makes me think is reflux. Its like heartburn but no pain. The LES is weakened allowing stuff to come up acid ect, and the bodys protection is to tighten up the throat- thus the lump. D-limonene heals a leaky LES valve, some in the past here will agree, they tried it sucessfully.

A lump in throat feel from hypothyroid does not give you burps at all. I've had both, and eventually could tell the difference.
