Hi all! Has anyone else noticed that Woodland Essence's cat's claw is only tinctured at 1:7.5? I had been using Mountain Rose which makes it 1:4 and I haven't received the same benefits or herx sxs from WE's even though I've more than doubled my dose (50 drops 3x/day). Last night I took 1/4 of a capsule of cat's claw I had on hand and felt the herx headache and nausea arrive in a few hours (which is why I switched to tinctures).

I emailed WE about this and she said that I actually shouldn't have to double my dose -- that this is the strongest they can make it while still covering the herb fully in the jars. She said the ratio shouldn't really matter -- a response I was surprised to receive.

Any suggestions? I haven't put a full signature here yet but I'm doing Buhner's protocol after developing horrific side effects on IV Rocephin (lyme and babesia Dx in June 2016 after nine years undiagnosed). My sxs are severe-- bedridden, live alone, require 24/7 care.

I'm surprised. The ratio measurement of 1:7 is one part herb to 7 parts water or alcohol. So it seems more diluted than the 1:4 to me.

Go with your gut instinct. That's my advice.

Also on Cat's Claw, make sure you read what is the cat's claw. There are about 3 herbs that are called cat's claw. Check on the scientific name to make sure you have the one that Buhner suggests.

PeteZa - thanks for your response! Yes I have both forms of cat's claw for neuroborreliosis. The Chinese cat's claw is 1:5 and it is strong. I can only use 10 drops. It's the regular cat's claw -- uncaria tomentosa thats 1:7.5. I'd love to hear from others who use WE for Buhner tinctures to see if they find it weak too? I really love their company but this is odd.

On pg 215-217 of Buhner's book, it appears he's recommending Uncaria rhynchophylla for neuroborreliosis. That's the Chinese version (Gou Teng).

Forgot to mention that UR is available through Sun Ten Herbs as a powder. I cannot attest to the quality of these herbs because I've never used this brand before. I think it's a Taiwan based company, you'll have to google it.

Herbalwhz- Buhner says to take both kinds of cat's claw for neuro lyme. My problem is with uncaria tomentosa. The Chinese cat's claw tincture I have is fine.

Ok. Thanks! But just to clarify -- my problem isn't which cat's claw is better. I plan to take both. My problem is with Woodland Essence CC (tomentosa) strength only being 1:7.5 and wondering if that seemed weak to anyone. My previous brand was 1:4 and yet WE said I didn't need to increase my dose when I brought this to their attention.

Hello, I use Woodland Essence cats claw- tomentosa and boy I think it affects me. I haven't been able to get up to a full dose in 10 months.
It causes vibrations/pulsing inside my head, neck arms upper chest area.

Herxing or just a reaction, I am not sure.
