Coming off low dose naltrexone

I've been on it for years.. 4.5 mg.. Had no idea if it ever really did anything so I decided to try coming off it. Had a couple more severely bad days. Always hard to know... would I have had them anyway? But the symptoms felt a little unusual and a little extreme.. more specific pain, more aggresssive air hunger.. I took it again last night and maybe feel a step closer to stable so far today.

Has anyone come off naltrexone? Would you think in my case maybe it's helping and stay on it?

For money, and for just not wanting to take so many medications, I wanted to see what I could let go. But maybe I'm still in a phase where I need to get practice letting myself take what helps.

If I were you, I would slowly come off of it.

Can you go down to 3.5 or 4 mgs for a week and see.

What are your dosages? Is it one capsule of 4.5?
Can you ask your Dr. for a lower dosage...maybe get the next prescription filled as 1 mg caps?

You can take 4 , then a week later take 3, etc.

I came off it by decreasing 1.5 every other week. I'm like you, I think it helped, but don't know for sure, like so many other suppliments.

Yes perhaps, I weaned off after a year at full dosage.

My llmd recommended starting and stopping it. It may have but I think perhaps I plateaued on it

Even small doses of most medicines seem to affect me, so I ramped-up on LDN by 0.5 mg per week. Mine are bisected tablets of 1 mg each. So, they can easily be broken in half. I will decrease by 0.5 mg per week, too, when the time comes.

Without LDN, I know my sleep will suffer. Even though it's not intended as a sleep medicine, taking it before bed helps increase my chances of staying asleep through the night.

I get mine from a compounding pharmacy in Colorado. It's shipped to me, via U.S. Mail. It's quite a bit cheaper (around 50% less) than what I have paid at a local compounding pharmacy.

I take a very low dose but it costs me something like $40 a month for it and I am sure that someplace out there has to be cheaper for this stuff. I only take .3mg ( I think) but don't notice a huge change. Sleep is better but still have pain in hands/fingers w/ swelling.

Are you sure it's .3 mg not 3 mg?

My LLMD faxed them my prescription and my LDN comes via U.S. Mail. When I need a refill, I call the pharmacy, enter my prescription number, my date of birth, and that's it. Within a week, the refill arrives.
