Hello! It's been a few weeks since I've been on here and thanks to a few, I've gotten a lot of help.
Anyway, after going bonkers trying to find a LLMD, I ended up going to... One of the big name doctors.
I had a tick bite the 9th of August and a rash four days later that lasted two weeks. I started doxy 400 mg/day on week 6..ish and i have another two weeks.
I'm experiencing what I think is babesia, Bartonella, and mycoplasma symptoms. This LLMD that I flew to see doesn't even want to talk co infections right now. Says starting too many things at once has too many negative side effects. However, i was just infected. I know now is the time.. Right?
Doctor says doxy takes care of most things I'm worried about except Babesia. I also just ordered Buhners core protocol tinctures to go at it from both angles (should be in tomorrow). I'm taking.. Stevia, grapeseed oil, activated charcoal, vitamin c, a really good probiotic...uhm... Lemon water... Dry brushing, epsom salt baths... I feel like I'm doing more than what I'm listing, but maybe that's it.
What have been the best treatments for co infections??? By starting doxy, did I just put all the spirochetes in cystic form? Doctor says "we don't even know if that's true, it's simply a theory. In a test tube, that is how the spirochete behaved under pressure, but we do not know what it does in our body".
I feel like my concerns are being disregarded and I really, REALLY can't afford the initial payment for a new LLMD.
I have an icepick headache every morning that is killing me. Luckily it only lasts a couple of hours. I'm getting red pin pricks here and there, I'm bruising badly and for no reason, stiff neck, crawling bug sensation, my heart racing from time to time, and now I'm not sleeping. As I start to fall asleep (you know, around 3 or 4 in the morning) I'm jolted awake with my heart racing. Sometimes gasping for air several times before I actually zonk out. Having issues talking sometimes, not coming with the right words? I was suffering from pretty blurry vision which has luckily resided.
I'm really scared to let things progress and I thought seeing the doctor would put me at ease.. It only, sorta did. May I add, all tests were negative but one band. He didn't tell me which, but did mention none of it really meant anything, which seems to be the norm.

First I agree with Girlie that if its a recent infection they usually use doxy first, and you would need more than one week. Usually several weeks.

However, Your post sounds just like what my previous llmd said to me when I questioned anything.

I was on doxy the first 4 months at 400 mg a day when I was first being treated. It did knock back my infections to a certain point but as time progressed other infections showed up.

My llmd completely disregarded Bartonella when I would tell him my symptoms. Its my dominate infection that showed up after knocking back the Lyme.

I had kept asking questions about the cyst form and also why another ABX wasn't being added in to fight the other infections. Since most llmd's today do more than one ABX.

I received the same answers you got and I experienced the same feeling...like my concerns were never being acknowledged.

I would talk to your llmd like Girlie suggested and ask the specific questions you have. Then I would ask what is the treatment plan going forward. What about supplements and detoxing?

We are usually paying a high fee for these specialty services at an llmd.

They should be able to thoroughly discuss your treatment and a plan of attack with you.

If you still feel uncomfortable at your next visit I would consider finding a different llmd. In my case I believe I waited too long to do that.

Getting healthy has many components not just medicine. We have to believe and feel confident in our treatment plan and the support we get from our llmd.

Also I understand it is very expensive especially when we start with a new llmd for that first visit, but there are some llmd's that do accept insurance.

I know not many, but I was fortunate to find one and I have seen other members post saying theirs accepts insurance from time to time.

Im on week 6 of taking doxy, and have 8 weeks total. But the doctor said that won't "run out" this is just the current plan. I saw him the 9th of September and have spoken with him on the phone twice including the other day when I suddenly felt very discouraged..
All supplements I have listed in original post. Except it's the grapefruit seed extract (I'm sure you all guessed that-late night writing!)
I am seeing a Dr C, yes. I expressed my concern with current symptoms and he doesn't want to talk about it at all. Apparently I'm moving too fast. I didn't think that was possible when it comes to just talking about my health, but whatever. I have an over the phone appointment with him in two weeks to check my status.
Doctor also said he was"barely comfortable" giving me 400/day of doxy, usually does 300. But everything I read, was told, and even his writings says 400.
Totally understandable not wanting to push all meds, as I'm not one to even take anything. But I WOULD like a plan of attack and all he'll give me is "take the doxy and we'll see where you're at".
This unknown is making me stress and stress is worse, I know, I know. But I do know there's more to this than the lyme and I would love to hear options... He literally wouldn't discuss anything but the lyme and what co infections doxy takes care of.
I went to this fictitious because I couldn't get in to anyone for a while. He's a top name and could get me in immediately. I called so many llmd offices before going with him, I don't know how many more i can find...

Lyme is not a quick easy fix. You will only frustrate yourself thinking that faster is better. It is the slow, continual medicine that works.

I too had a hard time with the slow approach of my doctor. It doesn't do your body any good at all to overwhelm it with "everything but the kitchen sink."

I am pretty sure I had babs and bart along with lyme. You rarely only get lyme disease. I did Buhner's protocol and a couple of Beyond Balance products and in the end I believe that got rid of the babs and bart. How do I know? Well, I became symptom free. Just to be sure I did a couple of bart and babs herbs for awhile and nothing happened.

My advice is take a deep breath. Trust your LLMD and be patient.

Oh yeah that word - Patience -- I had NONE. I honestly wanted to paint that word on my living room wall. I was the most impatient person I know. I wanted lyme gone and now.

It was extremely hard for me to handle being sick and unable to control my illness. Killing lyme takes time and there is absolutely no way you can rush it. Once I got that into my head, I calmed down and just got with the program and stayed a steady course until lyme was gone.

I've been lyme symptom free for over a year now.

You can do this. Take a deep breath. You are doing so many right things. Never Give Up!

Patience is a virtue I often lack! My LLMD first treated borreala. He's now treating bart about 6 months in.

For me it's important that there is a "plan" but that the plan is flexible based on my feelings and needs, and my LLMD does work with me on this.

It's true that nothing happens quickly with lyme. Keep reading and asking questions and educating yourself. I don't leave everything in the hands of my LLMD. I've added some herbs on my own like red root and banderol. I'm looking into others too. My goal is to get off the antibiox by the end of this year.

Am I impatient? Yep. Am I being impatient with my doctor? Absolutely not. I am asking questions and wanting a "plan". Plans change, and I can deal with that. But what I'm having issues with is this constant "let's just play it by ear". For the amount of money I've spent on an appointment,i should get something better than that. Anything.
I am hopeful in a couple of weeks when I talk to my doctor again, I get SOMETHING but until then I'm a mess. I didn't even get a "your symptoms are relatively normal for xyz" or "that happens with doxy! Wakka wakka!" There was just zero acknowledgement after my initial appointment.

Really, Girlie? I didn't realize that. If only that was verbally expressed to me instead of "you're getting ahead of yourself, harrumph" and yes, I started antibiotics pretty quick.
I guess my thought was, if I have the signs now, why wouldn't we address it in some manner. Whether it be meds or just a plan. Since babesia doesn't respond to doxy it won't just go away, right?
I'm reading what I can about all co infections (and lyme too for that matter) and it's hard to wrap my head around all of it
