Pinprick skin = doxycycline reaction????

Just got off the phone with my LLMD and, once again, I am questioning his decision.
I suddenly am covered in pinpricks on my skin, some the size of a needle tip, others a ballpoint pin. So not a lot of variances in size and not in clusters either, just scattered. The larger ones are ever so slightly raised as well.
I've been on Doxy for 7 weeks 400mg/day and my doctor wants to switch to Azithromycin for a month because he believes the spots are an allergy to the Doxy.
Has anyone heard of this? I thought the spots were from Bart or Babs, but we're still in the place of him not wanting to talk about coinfections AT ALL.
I also have been slowly adding tinctures from Buhner's Core Protocol, maybe that has something to do with it?

Oh and in addition, My doctor said he was very hesitant to make a change in meds because I've done so well on the Doxy. So I asked if he was sure this was the right thing to do and he actually didn't answer me. He just wants to do a month of Azithromycin and reassess in a month. How am I supposed to feel about this?

I have gotten them and get them too. I doubt it's doxy. ALOT of lymies get it, so more than likely the infection.

Matter of fact Buhner even describes them very briefly in one of his books I believe.

I actually got one a few weeks ago.

The "good news" the majority of them go away. Some in the same day or some times it takes a week or two.

I've gotten very good at noticing how they look and how long it will take to fade.

Mine were not itchy or inflamed either just red dots.

I just asked since usually allergic reactions are hive like and itchy.

I don't think its the doxy either but the infections.

Azithromycin will hit babesia but its usually taken with Malarone .

He is still just treating with one abx then ?


Follow your instincts, I feel I wasted a lot of time and money by not following mine.

I think a good Lyme doctor would have experience with this situation and be open minded. If you have no options, I would apologize to the doctors staff, continue to see him and take his antibiotics for the lyme and treat the co-infections with Buhner herbs on your own. I did the whole Babesia/Bart protocol while I was on my minocyline/tindomax combo because the herbs are really helpful for inflammation anyway. If you are worried about interactions, you could take them at different times.

They have often appeared in threes often in line with a vein on the leg or foot. They may or may not scab.

Since the addition of CSA and MYCO which is consistent with Buhner herbs they have recently appeared all over the legs in large amounts rather than grouped. (Edit: and just one day later most are vanished. Thats so crazy!)

They appear to remain in line with veins but appear more as if I scratched myself. Its as if my veins sprung several leaks but they are not painful.

I am confident they are related to Bart and herb treatment.

I have not used Doxy in several months.

When I called Dr. J's office a year or so ago...it was the initial consult (I believe she said $700 or 800) and then I wouldn't have to go back for 6 - 9 months. I would have a couple phone appt.s instead.

Maybe it's because I'm not in the U.S.? - they make exceptions?


and, yes, as goshawk said - he doesn't waste anytime...assumes you have all three B's and treats accordingly.
