Coimbra Protocol ?

Too much vitamin D can be detrimental. I would love to see how much vitamin D is being given.

10,000 isn't a whole lot of Vit D. My 'script is for 50,000, but I only am to take it weekly.

Do you know how often that does is supposed to be taken? I will have to wait until things slow down to go watch the video.

Hi July!! =) I just realised that sometimes he recommends 100,000IU of Vit D3 but with a whole lot of conditions and prohibited foods. So 50,000IU per week is not high at all? In this link I am posting he adds a lot of conditions in his protocol that need to be strictly adhered to by his patients...

I find it is very patient and condition-specific. So many tests before the treating doctor can decide on dosage and application. It is noted that Rifampin interferes with Vit D absorption. Yikes!!

So, high vitamin D and low calcium is part of it.

I’ve been on this protocol for a few months now. I feel so much better than my lyme treatment. I had to have a lot of tests done. Blood, 24 hour urine, and dexa scans. I also have to do my 24 hour urine test every 4 weeks. I’m closely watched by my doctor. I have to take a few different supplements but nothing compared to before. I was taking over 60 a day now I’m less than 15. I am taking 60,000 a day of vit D. The diet is hard at times but I just remind myself how bad I felt before. No side effects and I have energy. My body twitching has stopped and I feel like I’m speaking better and I have a lot more energy. Brain fog has lifted. I feel blessed I’ve found this and plan on staying with it. I’m excited to redo my tests for my co infections. I was tested for strep a couple of weeks ago and it was the first negative test from r strep in a year and a half.

Interesting. When I started having a relapse of symptoms several years ago I started taking 10,000 iu/day to bring my level up from 8.3 and the symptoms I was having resolved. I was nervous about continuing at such a high dose and when I reduced it symptoms returned and I eventually had a full relapse.

Hwalker please keep us posted on your experience. What outcome are you expecting? I’m guessing you won’t be able to maintain that dose long term?

60,000 a day of vit D?? wow!

the most I ever did was 10k for a couple weeks. seemed okay.

waht does your diet and supplement regimine consist of?

I am curious, does anyone have knowledge how much vitamin D IU one gets for staying in the sun for half a day or so. Wonder if maybe that would be as efficient?

I believe you stay at that dose until you are in full remission. That’s what I’m hoping for. You stay at that dose until your own body can fight and kill the bacteria and infection viruses etc... once you’re immune system is working properly he drops you dose to 20000-10000 a day for maintenance. This is what I’m hoping for. Full recovery. You do stay on some form of the protocol for life. Until there is a proper cure for Lyme, I think this will be the best option for me.

Alastorftw, I have spent time on the Coimbra Protocol Facebook group talking to people.

I’ve seen some people say it worked very well, but quite a few more who tried it and got nowhere. The ones saying it helped if I remember correctly were mostly MS, whereas the people w autoimmune neuropathy like me or other connective tissue diseases seemed frustrated.

Maybe you can tell us your story, what are your symptoms and how you’re treating?
