A surprising discovery shows that a widely-used and twenty-year-old medicine used to treat multiple sclerosis can also beat a type of multi-resistant bacteria for which there are currently only a few effective drugs. The result may be of significance for the treatment of patients and in the battle against resistant bacteria.

Glatiramer acetate was the drug the neurologist wanted me to take for MS back in 2010. It is called Copaxone and is a subcutaneous injection for MS patients and is used for relapsing/remitting.

I think it is supposed to be an immune modulator and better than the immune suppressing drugs.

I can't believe that now they find out it may have antibiotic properties. I will always think that MS is part of an infectious process.

agree mpost. more people are going to self-treat since the doctors are mostly lemmings who follow the same crap written by peers. very few folks in the mainstream medical community think outside the box.

one can get abx from overseas without a script and everyone should have something in their arsenal. i think many of us on long term abx have proven you can take them way beyond what mainstream doctors say and still be healthy.

Not coincidental at all. Cancers are most likely byproducts of infection as well. I mean cancers are inflammatory conditions with 20% having known viral etiology. Tumors are basically analogous to chronic wounds that have failed to commit apoptosis due to interference by intracellular parasites. Parasite infects cell, shuts down cell death programs to protect its ass against T and NK cells among other protective mechanisms, then generates inflammation, tissue degeneration, oxidative stress, and regeneration (growth factor secretion, angiogenesis, matrix remodeling, chemotaxis). Cancer genes are just a bottle neck event. They are necessary, but they're like 5% of what goes into causing cancer. Defective genes mostly just prevent the cell from resisting the constant supply of growth signals, or aid in accelerating its response to external growth signals. But of course the burden of proof for the other 80% being infectious is on any one trying to run with common sense.
