Death from Lyme

Can someone tell me how many people die every year from Lyme disease and how many die from complications from a port and long term antibiotics?? Just really want to know these statistics before I make the decision to do IV antibiotics or long-term antibiotics.

Another reason why it's hard do calculate a number, is because even if a person has lyme and dies from lyme, the death certificate will not say "cause of death is lyme". They are not allowed to state this given the current political environment. They will be attacked.

I agree with what everyone else here posted regarding it's hard to calculate how many people die from lyme because "lyme" will rarely be put on the death certificate.

As far as long term abx what concerns me is that most manufacturing plants are in China and India. Not only do they make antibiotics but also vitamins, supplements, aspirin, cosmetics, and the list goes on. From what I have researched the FDA do not inspect these plants like they should.

Thus I find this very scary indeed. This is why I choose to use alternative medicine made from plants in the U.S. (I used Jernigan's protocol because I knew the plants were grown in Kansas as well as tested).

One of the botanicals I used was Borrelogen which was tested by IgeneX (LUAT Test):

Traneboy - Actually Jernigan has products for brain fog.

In particular: Neuro-Antitox II - CNS/PNS

He says brain fog is from ammonia in the brain so it's important to detox.

Not everyone chooses abx for treatment. I'm glad you are getting better with your treatment!

As to not confuse any newbies reading this, ABX via IV port is usually for people with terrible gut issues, who cannot tolerate oral ABX in their stomachs. They tried and failed then go the IV route..

Some Drs say IV is more potent / effective, yet some dont think so.

When using any long term ABX, periodic liver AST and ALT tests are recommended.

Dr. J. recommends approximately 20 % of the patients he sees do IV abx.
Not just for gut issues, but also for some other issues - one being a diagnosis ALS.
I can't remember if he mentioned the other reasons in the interview I saw.

Not all LLMD's have that same opinion, though.

Very few people who know they have Lyme and catch it before they are completely debilitated die from treatment or from Lyme.

Those that do die are those who are misdiagnosed with MS or ALS for years or decades and by the time they realize it is actually Lyme it may be to late for treatment to be effective.

As in all treatments the patient must be their own advocate. You must find a Lyme Literate MD or ND that has a good track record and whom you feel confident in. Do your own research and question treatment options.

The worst thing one can do is not treat.
