For those of you who have had SPECT Scans, what came back abnormal?

I was considering having this done.

I've had and mri of my brain...but not a SPECT scan.

I think the SPECT scan will show blood flow better?
I saw an interview with Dr. J. and he said he uses SPECT scans.

My SPEC scan was the only test of the many I've taken that came back with a positive Lyme diagnosis. Reduced blood flow in several areas of my brain were detected. No abnormalities were detected in the MRI done around the same time.

The report included "Blah, blah, blah... "consistent with Lyme Disease". Its been over 6 years, so I don't recall the exact wording, and don't have access to my med file right now.

I had a spect scan done last year.

The scan showed reduced blood flow in several areas of my brain.

The report stated that this was consistent with alzheimers, lewie bodies and/or parkinsons.

Of course I freaked out but the NP at Dr J office reassured me this was consistent with lyme and the radiologist who read the scan just doesn't know any better to state that.

No abnormalities in my MRI scan were seen which was done a day prior to the spect scan.

Still, it scares me in the back of my mind. My mother has alzheimers and my father has parkinsons. Or do they? Could it be lyme for them too? As I look back over the years my mother has exhibited lyme symptoms...so many of them. My father no, just the parkinsons typical symptoms, nothing other than those, however, I guess they too could be lyme symptoms.
