Grapefruit Seed Extract

I did take it for several weeks early on - when I was on lyme only treatment.

I didn't notice anything.

It's very, very bitter (obviously) - but I was taking tincture.

Do you have pills...or capsules?

How often will you be taking them? on a pulsed regimen...or daily?

I've taken it frequently but never had any benefit from it that I could tell. But what possible benefit would be, I have no idea.

I have been taking it consistently since March 2011. In a short time I worked up to 20 drops twice a day mixed in with my ASV and Buhner tinctures. I can't say it makes a difference like most of my non-abx remedies, but it also suppose to help control candida, which for me has never been a serious issue. So even based on that and its relatively low cost, I keep using it.

With the GSE used to kill cyst Bb forms, you'd probably feel similar herxing and/or benefits as you would another antimicrobial. Sometimes we don't always feel the killing going on in our bodies, while at other times it can feel like an avalanche.

GSE is also a reliable antifungal/anti-yeast remedy for many strains.

I happen to have DNA testing that showed my body doesn't process grapefruit seed extract very well. I found this out after using a couple of antimicrobial tinctures and having strange reactions to them (the soles of my feet and palms of my hands would get sweaty and clammy and also peeled drastically). The second time I took straight GSE tincture my lower legs and feet swelled up and became stiff and painful. I tried taking a capsule form and this time, I think it's causing my kidneys or adrenals to ache and in fact, might be tied to some adrenal issues I'm having… investigating it as we speak. Now, I don't know how common it is to have this particular DNA mutation but I thought I'd toss it into the conversation.

These reactions are why I've always felt Buhner's comments that GSE doesn't cross the mucosal gut barrier quite strange… it's definitely crossing mine (although I have had history of mucosal damage so maybe this indicates I still have some issues there??)

Yes, limiting any treatment to a relatively short term has been a necessity FOR ME, due to my body developing intolernce to like EVERYTHING! the gene mutation for detoxing aka methylation, IS A HUGE roadblock!

I think he means the GSE and many other herbal protocols for yeast/fungus issues need to be rotated or used short-term as the yeast/fungus can grow resistant. It's also true for pharmaceuticals but less so.
