BabsBunny, how long did it take for your dizziness from SSRI withdrawal take to calm down?
It is so hard to tell because as I was finally getting relief from withdrawal, I got Lyme, and the two melted together.
I was on 225 mg of Effexor for 5-6 years, and other AD’s for a total of 15. I knew from switching before that it could be brutal, so I actually pulled apart the capsules and counted out the little beads into an empty capsule, and did a super super slow taper- took about
9 months to get off completely. Maybe I could have pulled off quicker and got over it quicker (conventional docs like to stay it will take 2-4 weeks to taper), but I was trying to maintain a job and not commit suicide.
My ND said she would have given me all the support - fish oil, hormones, amino acids, etc- BEFORE I started the taper, and my body would have handled it much better. But my system was so depleted it couldn’t handle the withdrawal well. I only came to her in desperation in the middle of it, so we did what we could. If I’d started with her, she’d have built my “army” before going into battle.
Sorry I can’t be more help than that, but my main message is that it DOES go away. Both chronic depression and I do believe Lyme, can be in your past. It takes patience, but is soooooo worth it.
