Hi everyone, I have done the Western Blot test through the health care system here in Canada. It came back negative. I also did the iSpot Lyme test, which came back positive. Unfortunately the iSpot Lyme test holds no official diagnostic value.

There is an LLMD here at one of the hospitals that I am planning on seeing. There is a long wait list though. Apparently he tests through the States because he thinks that the tests here and Canada are useless.

So, I am wondering how testing through (specifically) the health care system in the States differs from Canada. Is it easier to get an official diagnoses there? Or do they just use the Western Blot as well?

My parents own property down in the States that we visit frequently, so I may just visit a doctor when I am there. I know that you guys all have tons of trouble with doctors and Lyme disease down there as well, but I’m just wondering.

SnowAngel, the lab that I used was Igenex. You won't even have to come to the states, I don't think. You can contact them and get a kit for the lyme western blot test IgM and IgG. It will cost about $210 and they will send you the results. The test numbers are test 188 and 189.

If you have any questions, just post them here and someone will help you. Many of us had our testing done there.

Thanks PeteZa smile I have heard about iGenex and have been thinking about getting it done. I am just wondering about a test through the health care system that carries diagnostic weight too.

Snowangel - Is the LLMD that you’re waiting to see Dr H?

The usual labs in the U.S. aren’t good for Lyme testing

- that’s why we recommend Igenex for testing as they specialize in tick-borne disease testing.

So you we’re positive with the Ispot - that’s Armin Lab?

Won’t the LLMD you’re waiting to see accept Igenex?
If he’s the one I’m thinking of - I think he accepts StonyBrook labs.
