Experiences with Rocephin

My doctor has given me the option to start on IV Rocephin. I would likely take it for a minimum of two months. I would love to hear from any members that have taken it, specifically:

- Did you improve while taking it?
- What symptom improved?
- Did you take a cyst buster at the same time, namely flagyl or tindamax?
- Did you relapse after ceasing treatment?
- How long were you on it for?
- Did you have unaddressed co-infections while treating?

Overall, do you believe that it helped and is it worth the hassle of getting PICC line?

i did over a year pulsing with bvt and rife , the roceph did calm the nerves put bart on pause and relieved some inflammation...put a huge dent in the bone pain .. i choose to get a port over a picc and use it for rebuilding ivs now...piroutte has some great threads on roceph and ivs she did a lot with vanco

and to specifically answer your questions ...no relapse as i do maintanence stings herbs alinia
bee venom was my biofilm buster , blood thinner , heat , and cyst buster 3x a week for 2 yrs

I saw a neurologist who diagnosed neurolyme/encephalitis (sp?!) and started me on 2g Rocephin for 28 days. This was June of last year. I would say that yes, it did clear up some of my neurological symptoms.

I had started to have simple partial absence seizures and I haven't had once since finishing the rocephin. It helped reduce my neck and shoulder pain which was by far the most debilitating and painful symptom. It improved my brain fog somewhat.

As I was completely new to the Lyme world and had no idea what I was doing (neither did he, it would seem) I wasn't advised to take any cyst busters or do any detox or take any probiotics whilst taking the antibiotics. This is a big regret of mine as I am now dealing with candida and gut issues as a result of this.

Nearly a year on and I am now following Buhner's herbal protocol to address the residual symptoms and I have noticed that Bartonella symptoms have appeared.

I did not have a picc line, as it was just for 28 days I went back and forth to the hospital every day and had the port in my hands changed every 2-3 days.

For me, I felt it was the right course of action to treat by hitting it hard with antibiotics and then following that with herbals. I am glad that I did the Rocephin but knowing what I know now I would have been more prepared. I do feel it helped with the symptoms I was treated with it for.

I was on IV Rocephin for 13 months and finished with IV Doxy for another 3 months. Joint pain and stiffness were the first sx to improve. I rotated treatment for Babs and Bart during this time and also pulsed Tindimax for about six months. A year later I weaned off all abx while adding more herbals only to relapse after 3 months w/o ABX (most likely caused by Bart).

If you can only get coverage for 2 months I would say it's not worth it. IV should be used only as a last resort for the most severe cases, or for folks that can't tolerate oral ABX.

Btw burrascano guidlines say if head or heart is invloved ...he recommends at least 6 months of iv ...what are you gunna pair it with and dont forget your urisidol for your gallbladder ?
