APERIOMICS - test for all known pathogens

Thought I would share...I've seen a few people on facebook groups mention this new test. Their site says they test for EVERY known pathogen(bacteria, fungus, virus, parasite) in a single test through next-generation sequencing of DNA/RNA from blood, swab, urine, fecal, tissue or other samples. Cost appears to be $750-1,000 per sample. For lyme they recommend blood, swab, urine & fecal. Not sure if that is the cost above x4. If so, very pricey. Results in 1-2 weeks. If you submit to insurance they may cover part. They state that they are seeing partial or significant reimbursement from insurance companies. I ordered the kit, not sure if you need a doc to sign to get blood drawn.

Read through some of the success stories. I've learned to be hesitant about tests over the course of 3 years, but if this is accurate it could really be awesome.

I did the Aperiomics blood test in July, and did not test positive for any of the pathogens they cover. The test looks for foreign DNA in the plasma, not intracellularly. Also, the tests are better for acute infections because the pathogenic load is much higher in the blood than during chronic infections. IF they can find foreign DNA, then they can match it to any known pathogen in their database, but finding the DNA is the hard part.

Aside from that, this company made me very skeptical. The customer support woman I called was also the CEO, and they have little information on funding history, etc. A similar company that is much more legitimate in my opinion is Karius DX. Experienced team and top investors. Even still, I wouldn’t go to them for a Lyme test due to the reasons I pointed out above.

Thanks - very good to know. Did you test urine, blood, saliva?

When I called DNA Connexions, I talked to Leslie Douglas (head lab manager) which I thought was weird too. This company seems similar to them and their testing.

For me, the exciting part will be when a test like this is routine and covered by insurance.

Does this type of testing differentiate between active and inactive infections?

I just spoke to them on the phone. I don’t think it can differentiate. They sent me some sample reports which were interesting. It can tell you the abundance % of bacteria/fungi/parasite/virus in sample. I’d guess the more abundant, if it’s a known pathogen, would be considered a problem. It’s about 2400 to run urine, swab, blood, stool.

I may consider down the road. I still have to get my second dna connexions test back. Just nice to know all options.

I doubt if any blood test can differentiate active or not.


I would think if the dna of the bacteria was found in a blood sample...then it's active, no?


Even if not...you're testing because you have symptoms...or an indication that you have lyme...so...
