My wife tested positive for antibodies, had bulls eyes and fever, aches pains, etc. After taking doxy, the NP could not find when to retest again, she did it seven days after finishing doxy. The NP said said one will always come back positive in the blood test while the other should not. My wife retested again after taking doxy for 20 days. Said it came back positive on both again and not just one. (I remember the test having abbreviation of igG and others like that on it). We would rather consult a specialist but cannot find anyone near. The NP from what I could see was just googling what to do and had not research anything until she was sitting in the room with us. Anyone know of specialist near Houston Texas area?

Hi Allan, welcome!

We've had a few members posting from Texas in the past few days.


The NP is talking about the IGG staying positive indicating a 'past' infection and the IGM not being positive after treatment.

This is not true with lyme disease. Even after treatment, we can still be IgM positive.

Retesting with the Lyme WB isn't used to see if we're finished treatment. We need to treat until symptoms are gone.

So, how soon after symptoms starting did she start treatment?
With those symptoms, 20 days isn't enough treatment...I'm glad you are seeking out a LLMD for your wife.

Her symptoms are gone. She had thr symptoms almost with in ancouple days after noticing the bite. But since taking thr antibiotics she feels back to normal.

She should still be treating even though her symptoms have subsided.

The minimum treatment is until symptom free plus 4 more weeks. I wouldn't do any less than that...you don't want the chance of it becoming a chronic infection.

Hi you can also go to Texas Lyme Support Group on Facebook.. The members might have some recommendations for the Houston area.
