The Longhorn ticks(From Asia) that were identified at a sheep farm in New Jersey last year have survived the winter.

Beware of this tick as it is very small in the nymph stage and hard to see.

its interesting that this article is all over the news here in PA and NJ, always talk about how the ticks dont survive the winter on the news too. yet no real support from the PA Senate on any of the TBD legislation.

Thanks for the chuckle astroman........but I can tell you for fact, that even black legged ticks here in Western Mass. can overtake someone quickly.. my mother had over 25 ticks crawl all up and over her in a matter of seconds a few years ago after we were near a field when looking at some land.

There could have been more, but I was in a frenzy swiping them off of her as fast as I could and let me tell you..they are fast climbers and quickly find places to get in and under your clothing.

I had them on me also and that is one of the times I found one attached days later.

People seem to believe that only a single tick is here or there on a blade of grass, or a stick etc but the truth is there can be an enormous amount of them in one localized area. It dangerous and it sucks.

Be careful out there.

They are bad here too. at Lake Nockamixon in PA, one time i pulled countless ticks off my dog atleast 15 or 20 of them just from a very short walk. had her fur not been mostly white and short, they would have been very hard to find and pick off.
