Hey everyone, I got a rash in my groin area just the other day and immediately went to the doctor. I thought it might be a fungal infection, possibly because of all the antibiotics I'm on which I know makes things easier for fungal issues to occur. The doctor agreed with me and gave me a topical antifungal cream to apply for the next couple weeks. I just wanted to ask if anyone else has dealt with fungal issues while on antibiotic treatment, and if there are any good tips on how to prevent them?
I'm already on liquid Nystatin to combat yeast (I have some white spots on my tongue, but I'm keeping them in check), so I should be good for GI and oral fungal issues. Mostly I'm concerned about treating the 'jock itch' I have right now and making sure it doesn't come back, I know I'm more vulnerable to these things while I'm treating.
I'm making sure not to be intimate with my girlfriend while the rash is present as well, I know fungal infections are contagious on contact. The sooner its resolved the better. Thanks for the input!
