Hey Garion, well its a complicated list but let me give it a bash
- Twitching (fasciculations):
This all over the place, but most disturbing is when it happens to the tongue. I can break the twitching down into three categories (please note these descript
ions are self defined).
1. A simple twitch - happens once or twice in an affected muscle but can repeat every couple of seconds or so. I can feel it clearly when it happens.
2. Silent twitch - These are scary, they normally happen in my legs, primarily the feet. They are rapid and last anything from an hour to days. I call them silent because I dont always feel them, I notice them when looking in the mirror or sitting in the bath!
3. Earthquake twitch - This is also disturbing, normally effects the larger muscles like my thighs. It feels as if the entire muscle or group of muscles is rumbling, almost like an earthquake! This also happens from time to time in my neck muscles :/ which is very disturbing
Tremor(s):
Happens primarily on my left side, very recently I experienced it in my toungue. Very rarely effects the right side.
Odd temprature sensations:
- Often my left foot feels like I am dipping it in a warm bath, this has recently progressed to the entire leg (but I suspect the ABX as this started yesterday as well)
- I have these waves of cold that effect the left side primarily, its visible optically as my skin reacts with goosepimples. Oddly, standing in front of a fire triggers the reaction all over my body, causing a bizarre sensation of feeling warm inside but cold on the skins surface.
Buzzing/Electric shocks/Numbness:
Pretty standard symptoms for the most part, but very common, cell phone like rythmic buzzing mainly in my feet or lower back. electic type feeling in the extremities.
Joint pain:
This started in my knee a few months back, initially I dismissed it as unrelated but subsequently I have noticed tenderness in my elbows and the second knee. May be unrelated though as I am not nearly as sporty as I was a year ago.
Eye issues:
Lots of visual anomolies like ghosting, floaters (tons) and flashing lights.
Co-ordination:
I seem to permenantly be off balance, often walk into doorways.
My left hand is badly affected with this, however I dont have any kind of clinical weakness (ALS fear)
Cognitive:
- Irritability is common, sometimes unexplained
- Memory is impaired in an odd way, so I will struggle to complete a sentence because the intended word is forgotten, then it takes a few seconds before I can recall it. An example would be forgetting my fathers name for a few seconds! (that was when I took this symptom seriously)
- I feel really dull overall, as if I lost 20 points off my IQ
- Extreme sensitivity to light and noise. Overexposure to these sensations always leads to a crippling migraine.
Additionals:
I do have what appears to be slight muscle wasting in my left hand (thenar) and right forearm, but this seems to have remained unchanged for the last few months. Also, as I have never taken notice before i suspect that could be simply how I am built.
I do have sessions of extreme fatigue and apparent weakness but these usually resolve after a few days.
I have difficulty swallowing, but this also appears to come and go so I am starting to suspect it may be a recurring throat infection.
I have spent around 10 months in an out of neuro clinics and other specialists and not a single answer.
