Hi Alunke, sorry that you are feeling so bad. Many people with Lyme are extremely sensitive to medicine. We advocate starting on a low dosage because sometimes the "normal" dose can be hard on us. It does seem like your body is responding favorably to the antibiotics.
Perhaps you can ask your doctor to prescribe a liquid formula so that you can break up your daily dosage in smaller quantities and at different times of the day. This would allow you to continue taking it each day until your body gets used to it or your bacterial load goes down.
It is possible that what you feel the next day is die-off of the bacteria. See, when the bacteria dies, its remains create toxins in the body. These toxins makes us feel bad, we called them a "herx". Eventually, you will begin to feel better and better as there is less toxins to deal with. You can speed up the elimination of toxins from your body by doing a body cleanse.
Doxy can be hard on the brain/head and muscles, joints, tendons. There are many antibiotics out there. Work with your doctor to find one that you feel comfortable with and that you can tolerate.
I would like to add that Amoxicillin is the first antibiotic that I took when I was first treated. I felt like I was weeks from dying and it brought me back to life. I hope that it does the same for you.
