Hi everyone,

My 4 year old boy came home with Lice spreading it to family. I know that on this forum people have stated that lice and bed bugs are vectors of Lyme disease and co-infections. However, every piece of information I’ve read asked doctors about says that Lice does not transfer disease. I am confused. If they do indeed transfer disease is my son is my family at risk? Should he take Doxycycline or antibiotics? There are so many biting vectors out there that all of us have been exposed to in our life time (mosquitoes, spider bites, lice, bed bugs etc) How is it that that the majority of the population doesn’t have Lyme and counfections? What’s the real risk and transmission. Your input is much appreciated. Thank you

I'm not sure what your doctors are talking about. Lice is the primary vector for bartonella quintana (trench fever).
