So... anytime in the future if I want to get pregnant, the child will be born with lyme right? I don't know... But I would appreciate some answers. I have no kids.

Hi Ashley,

I 'mysteriously' got pregnant within a few months of ending treatment for lyme. I was TERRIFIED. I had made the decision because of the lyme that I was not going to have children...funny how that happens.

I had my son tested at birth for lyme (via PCR). Came back negative. He is 3.5 years old, happy and healthy and the joy of my life. Literally, I'm fairly certain he saved my life. After the whole lyme thing, I just didn't have Joy even though I was no longer sick.

Take all necessary precautions-I do know some people that have had kids born with lyme.

Do you know how accurate the test is used to test your son? I will not have children if they will be born with lyme.

You can have the cord tested - is that what you did Opugirl?


I think I’d talk to a LLMD if I were you and ask what the chances are when you’re in remission of having a baby with Lyme
I certainly wouldn’t try to have one with an active infection .

Don't quite have the money for that and lyme is unheard of where I'm at. That's why I come here for advice and stuff. Plus I think the people here know about as much as LLMD. And people here can provide personal experiences.

I notice you said ask what the chances are.. But my feeling is that even if there is a 1% chance, I don't want to do it. I don't even really want children anyway. Just asking in case I change my mind one day.
