this new lyme test sounds amazing

Am I missing something or does this new Lyme test sound beyond amazing? Sucks it's only in New York, but guessing it will be approved everywhere soon? No idea on the cost either

it says it detects late stage, so I'm assuming that would mean chronic.

But if it's still an antibody test, you're still going to have false negatives. Unless it picks up everything the current tests do and more, it isn't going to help.

The FDA or CDC or whoever is backing this also needs to make testing limitations crystal clear to physicians and patients alike. As it stands now, there is widespread belief by doctors and the public (according to experiences I read on this forum) that unless the Labcorp tests are "positive," it's virtually impossible to have Lyme. From the stories I read here, even many who are fully CDC positive are told it's a false positive. Frankly, I cannot comprehend that.

The fact is, it is much harder to get people to believe the truth when they have fully embraced lies and half truths for so long. Unless the powers that be fully explain WHY previous tests were so bad and HOW new tests are better and DO AWAY WITH inadequate tests, they will have a hard time changing anything in practice.

It definitely will have false negatives like all tests. At least they are making an effort to reduce the false negatives unlike the last 20 years of Lyme testing = no progress

I do not believe this to be the final solution to all the testing problems.

Using antigens from all those Borrelia is definitely a big step in the right direction.

My simple definition:

Antigen: forign body(food, virus, bacteria)that your immune B cells see as the enemy.

Antibody: the "X" or kill marker or target that your B immune cells place on a forign body to be eliminated by T or Natural Killer cells.

I believe i've had this test done. It is available anywhere, since it's a standard Igenix test. So if you can order an igenix test where you live, you can have this test done.

Mine still came back negative So not all that great to be honest. I had band 23 I and band 41 I. In my western blot, only band 41 comes back positive.

I'm more hopeful about the nanotrap test

Garion, do you remember how much the test was to have done?

Antigen is the bacteria releases to fool immune system and antibody is your immune system response to the bacteria to kill it. Or try to. Hope this helps

Yes, IGG band 23 didn't show up previously. Otherwise it was the same only band 41. I've had standard western blot, and Igenix western blot before. Both showed band 41. But i think my immune system is completely depleted.

yeah there is new reports of testing too with Ceres Nanotrap antigen test, being pushed through FDA fast track.

real curious about how this immunoblot and the Ceres test, if there is any benefit for those that are chronic.

I had the Ceres Nanotrap test done. Came back negative. I'd upload the result but we can't attach photos here

what is missing from the patient population is a group of post treated (chronic LB) that are asymptomatic...to see if they are still positive.

I feel it's possible that they would be, considering the test picks up an outer surface protein of the spirochete so if you have any left in you, even if your immune system has them in check, you may still test positive
