I was bitten by something last week and I have no idea what it could be, the bite is still red and a tad bit swollen and itchy, I never saw a tick or anything at all, I had got bitten by a bunch of mosquitoes back on the 4th of July but none of those bites peeled or stayed longer than a week like this one, this is a new bite as of a week ago and I can’t quite figure out what it could be, can anyone here help me? The bite is on my ankle, I will post pics below.

Hi Guy, Welcome to our community.

I looked at both photos...and to be honest, I can't say that it is a rash from a tick bite. It really could be from some other insect. (It's thought that other insects can also pass on Lyme disease though)

But, definitely keep an eye on it...and be aware of symptoms that may show up.


You could go see a LLMD for an evaluation if you are concerned...and that way if you do get symptoms, at least you'll already have a LLMD to see for treatment.

I'm sure others' will post their opinions as well - it's late though, so it may not be until the morning.

I got infected by a mosquito. Better safe than sorry. Get tested ASAP. I wish Lyme had been on my radar in 2013 when I got bit. I wouldn't have suffered so much.

Too soon to test (bit a week ago)

Takes awhile for immune system to form antibodies

Well sad to say the bite is still here after 21 days now, I’m pretty sure this is a tick bite because mosquito bites never last more than two weeks on me, and I hear tick bites last for more than 20 days to a month or longer. I’ve had this bite since July 20th, almost 99 percent sure it’s from a tick even though I didn’t see a tick, because the bite has not gone away and mosquitoes bites don’t last more than two weeks recurring without healing, I’m screwed I think.
