Sweats and chills - Hot and cold

I've been having an uptick of various symptoms lately with some new ones thrown in for fun.

One of them is hot flashes and sweats but also feeling cold/chilled a few minutes later. Happens at various times - has happened both day and night, especially in the evening.

At first, I assumed hormones, but now I'm not so sure.

Anyone have this who's not a perimenopausal woman?

I would check for babesia also.

I had sweats and chills and believe it was Babesia related.

I have this, though I'm not sure it's to the same extremes. I'm adjusting the thermostat in my apartment, every couple of days, it seems, regardless of the external temperature. Sometimes, I'm dying from the heat, and freezing others.

Also, starting about a month ago, lasting for a couple weeks, I had drenching sweats every night. I've been infected since the summer of 2008. I've had, maybe, a handful of episodes of night sweating in that amount of time, so it's strange that it's just now surfacing.

I question whether it's a matter of "layers of the onion," as I wouldn't say my treatment thus far has been very targeted in terms of any one infection, more of a broad spectrum approach, throwing whatever I'm able to in my body, because antibiotics have never been an option for me, whether it was because I couldn't afford to see a doctor (then AND now, kind of) or the fact that the state of my GI system is in ruins (NOW). I'm a mess, but I'm so wrapped up in life outside of here that it's difficult to really do much. I persist by the strength of my fading youth and good fortune, I guess.

Who knows, though, maybe I have been making progress? I'm so used to this baseline.

Anyway, I don't get much noticeable during the day, apart from variances in what's comfortable as far as the temperature in my home. It's just the night sweats. They're disgusting. I feel for anyone who's dealt with them for longer than a couple weeks. I got so tired of waking up with my clothes soaked, bed soaked, having to find a towel or something to sleep on.

We'll see what my doctor says.

Fluctuating thyroid can do this to, in men and women.

I'm a woman, nowhere near menopause, I have extreme hot flashes and chills right after one another. It's considered a hallmark of Babesia, but can also be Bart, Lyme, or Ehrlichia (or probably any TDB)

Thanks for sharing your experience and for the link. I've read his symptom descriptions many times and have always been baffled because his descriptions of babesia and bartonella are almost completely flipped from other sources I've read.

I've never tested positive for anything except borrelia and ehrlichia. I strongly identify with bartonella, as I have the foot pain, stretch marks and purple streaks on my abdomen.

That said, Wayne Anderson's babesia description sounds like my life from birth up UNTIL my chronic symptoms started in 2009. For whatever reason, I find it easier to relate to bartonella and ignore babesia.

I've been treating with Buhner's protocols for over a year and have been taking Sida acuta and bidens pilosa all along to cover everything. A couple weeks ago, I took cryptolepis for 3 days at 5-10 drops, which is pretty much the max dosage I've been able to handle of any antimicrobials. I noticed no reaction. I tried artemesia the last 3 days at 5 drops. Haven't noticed anything with it, either. I'm going to keep with the artemesia a couple more days and then double the dose.

I really need to figure this out at some point. If I could find someone close by who does microscopy, I could get my blood checked. Isn't babesia pretty easy to identify on a blood smear?

Does babesia cause a lot of die-off/herxing? I know they say bartonella doesn't, but I herx from that more than anything else, as far as I can tell.

Maybe try Artemisinin? that’s what Buhner suggests for Babs (instead of Artemisia.) Also good idea to do higher dose of Cryptolepis - go to full dose if you don’t herx on anything lower

It’s Buhner who says bart doesn’t cause dieoff herxing, right?

- LLMD’s say it does. (Both my previous LLND and my current LLMD say bart does)

Also LLMD RM (bart guru) says bart dieoff is harsh.
