Ever since I started TREATING Lyme (2 years ago) my teeth have gone downhill fast. My gums are red, swollen, they bleed when I eat, brush, and floss. In fact, I can no longer eat granola without tearing up my gums. Now they're starting to look dingy and are especially gross after I eat. I realize some of this is age, but it's out of control.
Some stats: 43 F, 7 months post stem cells at Infusio. I wore braces in my teens and my teeth are now moving back to the way they were when I was a kid. It's horrible.
My routine:
1. I brush 2-3 times a day with a soft bristle flossing brush. I've tried others. None seem to make a difference. I even tried an electric and water pik.
2. Every night I floss and use a gum scraper (gently) and then rinse with warm salt water (to deal with the bleeding).
I have tried not using toothpaste at all (just water), organic toothpaste (Toms, no flouride), organic brushing powder, baking soda, salt (probably too rough), and coconut oil - all over a period of time, not one after the other. I give each one a chance and my teeth just seem to be getting worse! I've even tried oil pulling.
It sounds like I'm doing a lot here, but this is all over time. I've even tried doing nothing. No matter what I do, they're still getting worse.
I eat a low to zero sugar diet. My daily treat is a coconut ice cream bar made with agave. Once a week I indulge in fancy french fries (not fast food). I also smoke. Now, I know what you're thinking about the smoking. I know. You have to understand, my teeth were in great shape before my Lyme journey started and they've TANKED in two years.
I may be too close to see clearly here. Can anyone offer some suggestions on what I'm doing wrong or can change. I was hoping the stem cells would improve my teeth and gums, but so far no dice.
Thanks!
