I've had moderate arthritis pain in my hands for around a year now but it hasn't affected the size of the knuckle joints until this last month - I guess the cartilage has been eaten enough that it's starting to cause bone deformation.
Last month I lost the ability to wear my wedding ring which I wore straight through both pregnancies and a substantial lyme related weight gain (mostly gone now thankfully). Oddly enough this happened even though the pain has been improving over the last few months so I thought things were getting better.
Is this sort of degeneration irreversible once the bone starts to be affected? Experience, tips, thoughts?
It's mostly just vanity I know but I miss wearing that ring rather a lot and this is one of those pre-lyme things I'm finding a little hard to let go of.
Thanks!
EDIT: Update March 2019:
Just wanted to update my question here that the joints can definitely improve with treatment.
I am back to being able to wear my ring most days although my fingers still look quite affected.
Very happy to be back at this point and hoping most of the joint damage here and elsewhere can improve with care.
