Sometimes we get so caught up in the struggle of dealing with Lyme day to day that we forget to stop and see the brighter side to things. What is something funny that has happened to you due to Lyme or just an uplifting moment you had recently?

Ok so backstory time: This happened to me about 10 years ago. I was late stage severe lyme but was misdiagnosed at this time. I was on some VERY strong pain killers that didn't really work...just made it so I didn't care I was in pain if you catch my drift. Now normally I didn't see weird stuff, just things seemed kinda swimmy/extra colorful and I would see floating glitter sparks due to my blood pressure being on the fritz. I was currently in college and lived in an apartment directly behind the school.

On this particular day I was making my slow way home when I saw a peacock strutting its stuff in my front yard and some of my athletic guy friends on their afternoon run up the street in front of my duplex. I got the mail, waved at the guys, and made my way calmly into my apartment all the while mentally screaming at myself to stay calm and act normal. That it was all going to be ok after a nap. Just keep acting normal because clearly no one else could see what I was seeing.

Fast forward to this last 4th of July--I'm having a cookout with some of my old college friends and we start talking about funny things that happened back in the day. When lo' and behold one of the guys starts talking about the peacock running around the school and surrounding neighborhood, "...and there we were running by her house while staring at this crazy peacock and here she is all nonchalant like it was an everyday thing to have a peacock in your yard" They start laughing and I yell, "WAIT?! You could see it too?!!!!!" All these years I had thought it was a bad reaction to some meds and it had been a real bird all this time!

oh..my..lord i just laughed out loud reading this!!! hahahaha well at least you mow know you werent going crazy hahaha

i guess my situtations are too many to type..but if i had to pick something it would be my co workers talking to me and me responding...but then id ask them like 15 minutes later the same question i had asked before...them trying to explain to me that we just had this conversation.... so now my nickname at work is LYME BRAIN.... i do laugh about it but man i wish it wouldnt happen!

physedgirl09-I totally feel ya with the lyme brain my nickname was Goldfish. For a while there my mom had low iron so her memory was also on par with mine. We would be talking and then I would stop mid-word, look around the room and then ask here if I had been talking and she would shrug and say 'heck if I know'. LOL! Or she would ask me to remember something and I would just stare at her like 'really?!' and declare that we were the blind leading the blind.

I've had funny and dangerous.

One time I was driving our car while my wife and children were seated in the back seat. I forgot where we were going but I needed to fill up with gas so I stopped at the gas station.

I got out of the car, payed at the pump, opened the gas cap and began to put gas. I finished putting gas, put the pump back and got back in the car. As I started to drive away I hear my daughter in the back seat say "Mommy!" in sort of a worried voice. By now i am at the curb looking for a chance to merge into street traffic. Again my daughter says "Mommy!", this time louder and more worried.

As I pull away from the gas station, I look in the rear-view mirror and see my daughter looking at the back of the car through the back window. But, also in the rear window I see my wife standing at the curb with one bag in each hand watching us pull away, leaving her behind!

At that moment, I looked at my wife at the curb, I looked in the backseat expecting to see her and all I see is the worried faces of my kids because I just left their mommy behind. I remember thinking about how much trouble I was in and probably said a few expletives as I tried to make a U-Turn as quickly as I could to go back for my wife.

So, my wife says that while I was filling up she got out of the car, came up to me, asked me for money, which I gave her and I watched her as she walked into the gas station to buy snacks for the kids.

I don't remember any of that. She actually thought that I was kidding when I left her behind. My kids are older now and they still bring it up from time to time: "Dad, do you remember that time when you left mommy at the gas station?"
