Oh yes, detoxing can really help a lot of patients with herxes and managing symptoms. I'd try to implement a variety: binders like activated charcoal, lemon water (can add alka seltzer gold), burbur, pinella, etc etc. Try different things and see if any give you relief.
It took me a long time for symptoms to gradually improve. It's always been the meds that make me flare (herx) where I end up seeing improvement. Some people don't flare though... but for me herxing has always been a big issue which can also make it hard to gauge improvement. Usually after I've been on a med for a while that has been making me herx, well it's after I stop that therapy that I notice that my baseline gets bumped up. if you are not seeing improvement or herxing after 3 months on a protocol I think it is a good idea to rotate therapeutics. Also a good idea to look at other potential issues like mold, heavy metals, parasites, viruses, thyroid, etc.
It also took me a while to figure out what my herxing patterns were. In the beginning I was so overwhelmed with symptoms I couldn't tell if I was herxing or not. Then as I tried different therapies and saw consistent flares I got a feel for how treatment affected me and what was effective in my situation.
