Anyone ever have the loss of collagen and fat improve?

There are a few on this site who experience loss of collagen/fat. I am one of those. It seems to be acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans (ACA), a European version of Lyme. But some of the symptoms don't quite fit that, based on pictures I have seen. And muscles are not impacted.

It isn't a little. Over the years, it is deteriorated the skin and fat/collagen around the muscles of entire body. As one person on this site has said, "I wear two pair of socks because the bottom of my feet hurt from losing the pad." Understand.

Has anyone ever experienced this and seen an improvement of skin with treatment?

No improvement with collagen loss...

Backs of my hands are skin and bone - look like the hands of a 70 year old.

I now have cellulite on my legs that I didn’t have before - seemed to happen almost over night.

Under my eyes are kind of hollow - like I’ve lost collagen there....

Blah - I know I shouldn’t be so vain ... but

Can relate to you, Girlie. I've read if it is ACA, some improvements might be seen with resolution of borellia. One time before, when I had about 18 months of 85% better, skin seemed to improve some. But it wasn't where it's at now.

Vanity - I don't see it as vanity. Pride is more like it. Not trying to look 20 years younger, just not 20 years older. Then when you consider concern for kidneys, as you have experienced and I, it pales. But it still gets in your head.

The fat/collagen loss seems to be more prevalent than one might think. Hopefully, others will comment on it.

I'm also looking for ways to stop looking 20 years older hahah. ;-)

Anyone heard anything good about collagen supplement?

I was taking the Great Lakes collagen but didn’t stick with it.

I doubt if consuming collagen will add collagen to our skin...

It’s like eating muscle and expecting to gain muscle on our body..

I've tried bone broth, gelatin, whatever I could. Didn't really help. Not saying there isn't something out there that would for a particular situation.

From all I have read/researched, what helps more than anything you can take is stopping the damage with treatment. I know that's obvious, but it's a tough situation. Depends on exactly what aspect of Lyme is causing problem. In my case, it appears to be what was mentioned in above post - ACA. There doesn't seem to be any other answer.

The cf me peeps have a loss of figerprints like me also. ..collogen supps wont help til absorption in gut is restored. ..bart must be addressed and nerves need to heal if areas are to regrow. ..aceytlcholine helps lizard regrow tails and royal jelly has the largest amount available to humans. Actual stings to area has helped along with topical ooo and thieves eo to clear area of pathogens. Iv vit c and Patricia kane protocol has helped also...im trying to save for stem injections or prp to the site but tx must be complete .

Blue - I can relate to the indentations on my skin from clothing - that I never had before.
(Just read about it on that forum you pasted a link to)

I used to have large calf muscles - very firm. Now they’re small and not firm at all... same as my biceps and triceps.

It’s just so WRONG - unbelievable that we go undiagnosed so long to the point of our bodies wasting away.

Re: post treatment. I don’t know for sure - may go on a low dose of Buhners bart protocol for a year or so.
I am currently on a Maintenance protocol with Dr J - 4 days per month of abx - will be on that for several months - hoping the immune system kicks in to do its job.

To clarify - I am not symptom free yet - getting closer - I’m not real confident that the 4 days of abx will be enough to hold where I’m at and continue to get rid of the last few symptoms I still have.


Good news is - Dr J doesn’t abandon “Once a patient... always a patient”

Hoping not to be a lifelong patient of his.

Same as Girlie, as far as how hands look. But it has also eaten subcutaneous fat in arms, legs, chest, back. The strange thing is muscles do not seem to be impacted. No strength loss, and it looks like no wasting. Again, however, like in the link, it appears all the subcutaneous fat has been destroyed. That is why I have thought about ACA, yet I've never had it to the point of lesions.

Weight lifting is the only thing that has helped me gain some weight back, it’s still not the same though.

Yes have this also, hands and feet bony and veiny now. Temples also sunken. I keep having to buy smaller tops cause of loss of fat/collagen in arms and shoulders. I was taking the Great Lakes collagen for months and saw no improvement with that. Doing Buhner protocol now and just started Sida Acuta to help with Bartonella. But very depressing to see how fast your body can change with this disease.

I have the same problem with 24 years old. Fluoroquinolones have destroyed my collagen around hands, eyes, cartillage etc... A direct toxic effect plus inmunological reaction plus lyme plus bartonella plus ELHER DANLOS SYNDROME!!!!

The information provided on the link with supporting information is one of the best I have seen looking for ACA and other possibilities. Hope it helped. So many people have helped me on this site with their knowledge and information.
