Has anyone here taken this? My doctor prescribed it to help with food allergies...I thought it was for inflammation. I have very bad inflammation issues going on so I'm a bit confused as to why this was prescribed or what people typically use it for.

I read it’s an antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer.
Can be used for allergies.

My mom has been taking it for years. Has always helped her with various issues, in hindsight we think it may have been helping with MCAS issues related to lyme/coinfections. I know this med has really helped some patients, hope it can help you with the inflammation issues!

I just started it about
a week ago. I got it from compounding pharmacy. It is only 1 mg at bedtime . I am taking it due to histamine from Lyme and co. Before that she had me take zertec(claritin) and that and now the Ketotifen seem to be making a difference.

ketotifen is MCAS treatment. antihistamine and mast stabilizer.
careful with the fillers, they are almost always based on lactose. if u cannot eat dairy that may be an issue.
you may also try quercetin as natural alternative

I take it. It is fantastic. 1mg at night and I sleep so well. It is the only thing that has worked to get me to sleep well consistently. It is an H1 blocker. A type of histamine releasing mechanism in the body.

My doc tas given me this, told me to take 1 at night when I complained of itchiness/ rashes.
I’ve not been taking it every day, I wanted to alter a few other things first to see if they make a difference but when I have a particularly bad with with the rashes/ itchiness I will take one. Not sure if this is the right approach.
Also started quercitin two days ago

I take ketotifen for MCAD triggered by Lyme. I only take 1mg before bed which has helped with insomnia, depression, weight loss, and fatigue. I was only sleeping about
2-3 hours without it. Now I sleep 8-9 hours.

Nice. I don't think it helped me with much at all last I took it. He said to take it before every meal but this stuff is a dollar a pill so I don't think that's happening. I'd love to see some weight loss though lol.

It stopped the weight loss but now I keep putting weight on. My allergist told me she hasn't prescribed it in years due to the weight gain.

darn well I'm not sure I want to take it now. That sh** cost me ninety bucks! I assume the pharmacy won't let me take it back. Even at 1mg a day?
