Anybody experience phantom smells like burning smell when there is no burning smell to anyone else?

I think this is called phantosmia.

Yes I have had this experience before and it can be annoying.

As long as you don't have a seizure disorder (then it could be an aura), then it could be something as simple as allergies due to an overloaded immune system. At least that was my experience.

So most likely not a lyme issue just allergies flaring up?

A common symptom of Lyme is Marcons (staph) in your sinuses. You can also have fungus up in there. I use X-Clear (Whole Foods) and it helps.

I don't have any other sinus symptoms though. Certainly, doesn't feel like I have any infection ongoing in my sinus. What should one look for?

Try 2 weeks of an anti-histamine (you may need a prescription grade dose of something like Zyrtec) and see if the smell goes away. You can also try the supplement Resveratrol, an immune booster (check with your Dr. or pharmacist if you're on other meds- just my disclaimer lol). You can have a fungus like yeast in your sinuses/body even though you don't have other typical sinus like symptoms.

My mind goes to neurology first rather than sinus health. When people have strokes, they often smell burning smell first. I would see a neurologist, but I would assume this is neurological damage from Lyme or a co-infection.

I want to say yes, but I’m not positive. I have had a burnt sensation inside my nose and sinuses but can’t recall if there was an actual burnt smell, but it seems like there was.

This has occurred recently since trying to treat parasites with Mimosa pudica. I also get numbness and feelings of painful inflammation inside my nostrils and sinuses. I haven’t quite figured out what is triggering it. It could be related to mold, chemical sensitivities, some strange herx reaction to parasites in my head, or even heavy metal redistribution resulting from parasite treatment.

I’m starting to wonder more about the last possibility. I had similar numbness in the center of my head and roof of mouth before while taking ALA.
