Hi there, I am new here. I just found out I have Lyme two weeks ago. I estimate I probably had symptoms for about 2 to 3 months before being tested, but it’s hard to say. I am lucky my doctor thought to test for that since I live in a state where it’s really not common.
She immediately put me on a three week course of doxycycline, I have about 8 days left. I haven’t felt much from the antibiotics except a worsening of joint pain, which I am not sure if that is a side effect of the antibiotics. I decided to take some things into my own hands, and added serrapeptase, Japanese knotweed, and will be adding cats claw. The serrapeptase makes me a little nauseous, so I’m not sure if I will continue.
It’s been two days since I added the knotweed, and last night I woke up feeling freezing but also sweating profusely. I’m wondering if that sounds like a herx reaction from the herbs? I am done with antibiotics next Tuesday, and then I get retested the end of April. Do you guys think I should continue with the herbs for a couple weeks after I’m done with antibiotics just to be sure? I want this thing to be gone
Welcome to our community!
What were your symptoms prior to treating? The worsening of joint pain is most likely a herxheiner reaction.... either from the doxy or the herbs.
Just an FYI - testing to determine if you’re done treating isn’t reliable .(I’m assuming it’s a Western Blot?)
You can remain positive even after effective treatment plus you can test negative even if you still have active infection. Do not rely on a negative test result.
The dose of doxy should be 200 mg twice daily.
3 weeks isn’t long enough to treat even with the correct dose.
I recommend you find a LLMD asap and schedule an appt.
At 2 months in you’ve got the best chance to knock this out now.
You need to treat this until you are symptom free plus a few more weeks.
We can help you find a LLMD .
