I would worry that heating a supplement would alter its properties, potentially, especially something more complex like BW.
This is so interesting! I read through that other thread (thanks for linking, Girlie) and am so curious why so many of us think we can evaporate alcohol by letting tinctures stand in water for a few minutes. I certainly have heard this many times, including from prestigious doctors and their books. IF it's not true, then how did this rumor get started?
Jernigan formulas are available in either ethanol or apple cider vinegar, but both of those are a problem for those of us with MCAS. And not all supplements are available in glycerin.
Do people with MCAS generally do okay taking Byron White formulas or other alcohol-based herbal preparations if their MCAS is under decent control in general? Could we amp up our treatment in order to tolerate more alcohol (in order to tolerate the tinctures)?
I have been managing MCAS for a while using a low-histamine diet, quercetin, and curcurmin. The low-histamine diet seems to make the biggest difference, for me. (As in, as long as I don't ingest anything with high levels of histamine, I have no MCAS symptoms, which is pretty freaking cool, even though I know it doesn't mean MCAS is gone.) A naturopath and nutritionist I just saw suggested I diversify my diet more and take more supplements to make up for the added histamine, specifically that I should take higher quercetin doses and add homeopathic histaminum. This is an attitude I shy away from in the allopathic medical community (take this drug to make up for the side effects of this other drug, and don't even try to figure out the underlying cause!) so I'm reluctant to try her advice. I mention it, though, because perhaps for something important it's worth a try?
If you are having trouble with treatments you ingest because of MCAS, then maybe consider something else, like infrared light or rife or PEMF. Heat and herxing can cause MCAS flares, too, of course, so maybe that's not a better route....
