So I've only vaguely known about
Taurine for a few years, and it would be easy to misunderstand it as something having to with virility or bull testicles. I think that's why people mistaken as something that it isn't, more often than not, another casualty of the pharm-names/misnomers sounds-like-this but does something else problem.
Well it isn't derived from bull testes (not that I know of).
For me it is a calming supplement that can momentarily remove the toxic effects of too much monosodium glutamate (synthetic umami) which is in way too many processed foods ie. Taurine can be said to be the de-facto antidote to MSG-poisoning or glutamate toxicity.
Anyway, this "wonder molecule" has a conference all its own, and I can't say I understand all the scientific papers but it is pretty amazing. From just a quick glance of the papers, it is highly-versatile supplement/molecule to say the least.
