How to treat autoimmune issues?

I've been treating lyme for 5 years and only getting worse. Antibiotics helped at first but nothing has helped since. I did herbals, bee venom therapy, ozone, vit c, peptides, and much more. My llmd seems to think I have autoimmune issues and have positive tests markers for it. How do I treat autoimmune? I'm about to start low dose naltrexone. Any other suggestions?

That is the same question I have. As mentioned in another post, not sure how you can treat Lyme and autoimmune, since with Lyme you want to boost immune and opposite for autoimmune. My naturopath also mentioned LDN.

is autoimmune always an over reactive immune system? can't it be from an under active one as well

In the alternative medicine world, I often hear that autoimmune illness is not quite the result of an overactive immune system, but the result of a confused immune system. In that paradigm, treatment focuses on a lot of the same things we do for Lyme, fixing things that disrupt the body - safeguard hormone levels and adrenal health, prioritize the gut, eliminate heavy metals and parasites and candida, eliminate gluten and sugar, bolster neurological health and reduced stress, etc. All things that allow the whole system to recover, with proper nutrients. Reduce EMFs, add good fats, fast daily, encourage drainage and detoxification. For treating pathogens, bypass the immune system by using antibiotics or rife technologies, and don't try to "boost" the immune system. I just reviewed my notes from one of the Autoimmune Secrets, and that is the gist.

I think what Sara said makes a lot of sense. The more you can do to remove things that may solicit an immune response (i.e. allergens, chemical exposure, mold and mycotoxin exposure, inflammatory foods, habits or relationships that increase stress, etc), the better a chance your immune system has to calm down and normalize itself.

I feel like Buhner’s herbal approach to this can be very beneficial. It can take trial and error, though, in determining which herbs are best for you and what your optimal dose is.

I feel like taking a broad range of anti-microbials at amounts you can tolerate is a good idea for most. Pathogens of all kinds will continue to wreak havoc in a compromised body if left unchecked.

I don’t have any autoimmune diagnoses, but I am very sensitive and definitely have a very hypersensitive immune system. I can only take drops of most antimicrobials but take the max dosage of Chinese skullcap and feel like I need even more.

I didn't mean to hijack lymebegone's post. Her question is a good one and of interest. Was just trying to find answers that might benefit the question and some of my own. And mold is another good thought.

10 years ago I was perfectly healthy and now I suffer from countless problems and here in the past year I've also developed an autoimmune disorder.

The main thing my LLMD has me doing right now is my diet. What I eat and what to avoid, etc. Also he's got me on a few supplements to help stop inflammation.

And I will say it's actually been helping. You might want to look into that if you haven't already. There's a good book on tge subject called "The Plant Paradox" if your interested.
