Congrats on figuring out the puzzle. Mold creates so many weird symptoms. You probably have the dreaded HLA-gene polymorphism that doesn't allow your body to detox mold properly. I had a similar situation - I had sinus surgery in 2006, and the doctor told me mold had eaten the bone! Fast forward to 2015, and my ENT learned at a conference about reducing biofilms with a drop of baby shampoo in the nasal rinse (lots of studies on it). When I did that, a huge black gelatinous mass slid out of my nose the size of my palm. After that, I was able to make tons of progress on my lyme and co-infections.
Cholestyramine does work great. I still take 2x a week as there is 100% days of moderate to high mold in my external living environment. I will caution you that if you are really toxin (you have suffered for years), you might herx after you take it. Follow it up with some charcoal.
I have been at 95% better and some days 100% better going on about 2 years. My doc says working through biofilms can take years, though. I'm currently working with a trainer at my gym and burning off any remaining fat which I suspect is full of stored mold and lyme toxins because I do herx a tiny bit afterwards. Doc suggested I just follow up my work outs with some cholestryramine. Unfortunately, detox is a way of life for some of us that are genetically impaired to deal with toxins.
Cheers! Glad you are doing great.
My doctor tested for the gene, haven't gotten the test results back yet. We shall see.
Interesting on the baby shampoo... I have nasal congestion too. It seems as if only one nostril wants to allow air through it at one time. Then the nostrils will switch. LOL.
