Diatomaceous earth likely caused herx

I took diatomaceous earth (DE) for the first time last night. I had read that take DE could cause a herx like reaction. I didn't have a great dinner last night. That seemed to make my symptoms flare some before bed, but I woke up this morning feeling like a straight herx. I've read that DE binds bacteria, viruses, parasites, etc. I've also read that DE can actually kill those bacteria, viruses, parasites as well? Is this true?

My questions are as follows:

1. Why would DE make one herx?

2. I'm trying to create a combo binder protocol of Activated Charcoal and DE. Does anybody have any advice on how to mix these twos for best effect? I'm mostly interested in dosing schedules and how to plan these around food.

In my experience DE never caused me to herx but I also kept dosage at no more than teaspoon. I don't recall how much you dosage but you have to drink a ton of water with DE if you are not already aware of that. Could it have been something else you were taking? I've just not heard DE causing herd, I'll read the rest of the replies, maybe this is just my experience. Good luck, hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for your response. I read that DE can cause a herx as it interacts with parasites, viruses, fungi, candida in the intestinal wall. It’s possible my herx might have been brought out by treatment. I’m not sure because I took my first tsp of DE last night and I woke up this morning with a bad herx. I’ll wait for this herx to subside and try DE again at a lower dose.

Yes DE is suppose to work that way so I reckon it's possible when you aggravate the little beasties they will hit back (herx). Your approach seems very reasonable, let the herx clear then try DE again to see if same response. It will be good to know first hand. Hopefully it helps ya.
