MedicalNerd it's very common, do search on the forum, I suspect it has to do with the coinfection bartonella, aka cat scratch fever. Might be why most cat's urine is strong and smells like ammonia, then when humans contract bartonella through a tick bite, our urine smells similar to cat's urine, just a hunch... I mean maybe the strong ammonia smell has also to do with the die off of borrelia as well, can never be sure. Some also says they're urine smells like asparagus too. Another member also mentioned Brucella has a strange smell as well.
But seems to me, it's mostly related to bartonella reading these posts.

Not me - but I think it was Quinn that posted about urine smelling 'off' with the bartonella die-off. Can't remember if his sweat did too.

Has anyone else noticed the stench of bartonella? It smells rotten, and dead bartonella smells even worse.
With borrelia burgdorferi, I tended to get a Herxheimer reaction in different places. A certain area would hurt for a few days, then that would go away and a different spot would flare up. Bartonella herx causes flu-like symptoms, I get a fever, and ache all over. It's also very itchy, and it smells awful.
From my experience, after recently knocking down babesia infection with primaquine/coartem and then csa formula/a-bab, bartonella has seem to have pop up. And my current symptoms are my urine smelling like cat piss... Never had this before, not these other symptoms such as anxiety, intrusive thoughts, electric shocks in the arches of my feet, and racing heart in the morning.
Interesting post how bartonella pops up after treating babesia effectively
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/92441#000000It might be a sure sign/hint that you have bartonella, just a thought, it might be a good idea to start targeting the coinfection before it turns into more serious symptoms. But hey, maybe you are killing the coinfection, considering the toxins coming out of your body. What type of treatment are you on?
