Malarone dosage

Hey guys. I'm on malarone and just wanted to know what the right dosage is and what you guys take. I started on 4 tablets the first three days and then 2 tablets a day after that. Is that dosage high enough to kill babesia?

I know that’s the dosage of many llmd’s
2 pills twice daily for 3 days and then 1 pill twice daily afterwards.

What are you taking with it?
Azithromycin... minocycline...Biaxin... or?

I know that’s the dosage of many llmd’s
2 pills twice daily for 3 days and then 1 pill twice daily afterwards.

What are you taking with it?
Azithromycin... minocycline...Biaxin... or?

I'm taking it with 400 mg of doxy as well as tinidazole 500mg 1 pill 3 times a day (tinidazole is on weekends only). Also, the doxy and malarone I don't take on the weekends. I only take tinidazole on the weekends.

Yah - the J clinic dose a higher dose of Atovaquone than most llmd’s.

How are you tolerating it Alxander?

I took 1500 mg twice daily of Mepron. So that’s 3000 mg of Atovaquone.

Yeah, 8 malarone a day seems like a lot to me too. I’m taking with with Bactrim and amoxi.
This protocol was the treshold event that got me really worried about the damage of all these pills taking...

But I decided to still trust the clinic.

My finger are crossed that i’m doing the right thing.

How am I tolerating it?
I get mild nausea for about an hour soon after taking it.

Ya but proguanil is also for babesia and you can't take too much of it. I've also read that malarone is better than atovaquone by itself.

Interesting... I thought it was the other way around - Mepron in higher doses being more effective...
good question for the NP or DrJ

I know a few people who couldn’t handle the Mepron were switched to malarone - maybe it’s easier to tolerate.
