Hello all,
I am currently treating with Dr. J. in W. DC. I am following his classic 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off approach with 3 antibiotics at a time, currently Mino, Bactrim and Malarone.
I was listenning to Dr. M.R webinnar yesterday, where he said that he personally don,t believe in the pulsing method for co-infection as these pathogens replicated in a faster cycle than Borrelia. Bartonella replicating every 24h, for example. This is point is that by pulsing, you allow these coinfection to run wild.
Does anyone have an opinion on this?
It made me question the pulsing method.
I personally think pulsing works the best when you've knocked out both babesia/bartonella and you're looking to finally put borrelia in remission, due to it's slow 3-4 week life cycle. So I tend to agree with Dr. M.
As both bartonella and babesia can replicate in 24 hours, as you've said.

Since Bartonella species require 22-24 hours to replicate,
However, that doesn't mean pulsing can't work still for chronic lyme even when you have babesia and borrelia. Pulsing may help reduce biofilms... As I've noticed how it seems stevia wears off after 1-2 weeks. Once I stop taking it for a little, then hit back with it and another new antibiotic, it seems to help me get past plateaus.
I suspect Dr. J may not be just anticipating the drug resistance and replication rate of bartonella/babesia, but other factors as well as such as biofilms and the resiliency of borrelia itself.
I treated somewhat backwards because the LLMDs in my state Michigan weren't educated enough in treating my dominant infection babesia aggressive enough or long enough. However, I still made progress using just antibiotics and I have both babesia/bartonella. I suspect treatment would of been a lot quicker and I would probably be in remission by now if I my LLMDs had treated my coinfections first, but I can't turn back time.

Are you treating with Dr. J directly or one of his lower practitioners? There's no reason why you can't discuss the protocol more with Dr. J and them, try to give your own concern and opinion, see what they say back.
But I think you're in good hands regardless.
