I wish I could explain it, I only know I had it in the last house along with other things like heart palpitations etc, which was, I would say, all part of the MCAS picture. Despite me being out of breath, the oximeter at the doctor's office always showed 98-99% oxygenation, so I never failed to look like a panicked weirdo.

FWIW I hate those spirometries, quite frankly I think I am unable to do it properly. I had them a couple of times prior lyme, I always failed and looked stupid.

So sorry you are dealing with air hunger. it's such an unsettling symptom. I have found my $25 pulse oximeter very useful to reassure me that I am getting enough oxygen into my blood stream.
