Is Insomnia a side effect of starting antibiotics?

Diagnosed with Lyme and Bartonella three weeks ago and started taking Biaxin right away. I developed really bad insomnia and just when I thought my body might be adjusting, my dr added Ceftin to the mix so now I'm not sleeping at all and have increased anxiety too. Can it be the antibiotics that are causing these symptoms?

Diagnosed with CIRS from mold 1/19
Diagnosed with Lyme and Bartonella 12/19

It can be a herx reaction as well as a recurring symptom

Insomnia is a symptom of Bartonella and Lyme... plus all the other tick illnesss. I’ve been dealing with that since I got sick. My insomnia got worse on antibiotics too. The anxiety increased too. Mind was from die off/herxing. Everyone’s different. I’m super sensitive. It’s stirring everything up. Make sure you detox a lot. At week four when I start a regimen that’s working I usually have a huge herx. Some of us have issues detoxing too. Your body gets so overloaded and stressed.

My friend is on a similar regimen. She said the first few months were really bad. She’s now doing a lot better. She swears by ceftin. I had issues with antibiotics so trying to do herbs right now. I’ll go back on antibiotics if needed. Keep us posted about how you do. She has Bart and Lyme.

I have been battling insomnia practically my whole life and just recently started sleeping ok, and the thought of it returning was more than I could bear. Sometimes sleep is my only escape from all this madness. Hopefully this is just a little bump in the road.

What are you using to detox in terms of binders? I've been using activated charcoal for all the mycotoxins from the mold and plan to add in zeobind. I'm one of the super-sensitive people too who have issues with detoxing.

What herbs are you taking and how do you feel on them? Hoping you've made some progress along the way.

Sleep disorder is a big lyme and co problem.
Tired all day but can’t sleep at night
Cbd oil in unfortunately large amounts (cost like all our uncovered stuff)
Has been a huge help for me
I still use ambien and occasionally melatonin. I find the dreams on melatonin no matter what brand I try unnerving.
When I was faithful to the llmd regimen of
8 pm nuerops
9pm gaba
10pm melatonin, ambien,
I did really good
Since I weaned off I’m not as good but it’s more up late, sleep late so I figure I’m getting the z’s, just on my own schedule
