Zhangs protocol

Has anyone had success using Zhangs protocol? Is anyone on it currently? I just bought the book. Right now I’m using tinctures and supplements off of Marty Ross’s site plus LLMD recommendations.

I’m currently researching Zhangs and Cowdens Protocols. If I don’t improve from one of these I’m open to trying Antabuse. Last resort for me would be antibiotics. I know I would most likely respond to cowdens because I respond to banderol and samento. I just feel I haven’t been on a complete protocol and need to follow one more closely. Thanks so much!

Haven’t tried Zhangs protocol, my general feeling is people seem to like Buhners the best. Cowden and Zhang I seem to hear mixed reviews about, particularly Cowden, but that’s just my gut feeling.

But which antibiotics were you on that made you worse? Also in what way were you Ill? New symptoms or just worsening of old ones?

I’m not against antibiotics but if herbs can make me better I’d rather do that. I feel less side affects/gentler on my body. The herxing I’ll never get used to but I realize it’s part of this disease 🤪

I also realize that if I’m nervous system or heart continue to be compromised I may have to go on IV or antibiotics.

Last time I was in the ER I asked for
ceftriaxone. They wouldn’t give it to me 😂

I definitely aggravated something. I told my doctor I think we either aggravated the “bugs” like you said or are missing an infection like babesia. She diagnosed Bartonella clinically. I got a positive C 6 and western blot with Lyme.

I do not have bad nerve pain. I have a friend from my support group that has horrible nerve pain with Bartonella. Barely could walk when it happens. She’s doing much better now. She said IV glutathione is helping. She’s better financially than me so I have to strategically chose where to spend my money.

I do have a lot of “episodes” of intense anxiety with left side Neuro sensations that seem to be Bartonella . I get pain in the bottom of my feet ankles, knees.

I have msny other symptoms too as we all do but those I think are specific to my Bartonella.
The nervous system dysfunction gets bad when my symptoms flare up. It’s slowly improving with what I’m doing. I wasn’t sure if I should completely go on Cowdens or try out Zhang. Zhang does offer a free consultation via phone if you buy his book. So either way I’m going to do the consultation and read the book,

The saunas, meditation, yoga, energy healer, acupuncture are all helping too... or at least keeping me sane. My counselor let me go. She said I’m coping ok, but I feel I should continue seeing someone. I have two support groups and that helps a lot.

Sounds like you aggravated the bartonella. Keep hearing about people w Bart have similar reactions as you to treatment. Did you test positive for Bart, or is the diagnosis based on clinical signs? Also do you have bad nerve pain? Been wondering if my nerve pain could be due to Bart even though I texted negative.

I’ve been getting worse since starting treatment w Bicillin, and getting new symptoms (joint swelling) but it appears we just figured out yesterday it may be Serum Sickness

Yes your nerve pain could be bart.
I believe That’s what is causing mine.
Bart is known to target the nervous system.

I was clinically diagnosed with bart (had a positive lyme test too) and after over a year of treating bart, I then tested and it was positive (pcr)
It’s stubborn!

Is Zhangs protocol Houttuynia and Allicin?

It feels like there’s something wrapped around my arm. It’s usually more surface area than a typical rubber band. Like a tight sock or stalking. It started in my left lower leg at first on and off. It moves around mostly on my left side. Right now it’s mostly in my left arm. I get sensations on my left side of the face too. I also get tingling, crawling, numbness when it’s really bad on and off. I used to get pressure in my entire head too, less now. I get this nagging pressure on the left back side on and off with aching. I’ve read that Lyme can often favor one side more, I do get symptoms on the right too but not as intense.

The vertigo dizziness can be from all of the infections. The head zaps could also be babesia or Bart. I have equilibrium issues too that ca be debilitating when it gets bad. I was told by my ENT I have more of that than vertigo. Do you still have those symptoms?

I’m not trying to knock antibiotics bc they do work for some people. For me I think you’re correct. I angered the “bugs”. Some physicians think it can cause them to have more resistance and then they can hide and relapse later. Plus there’s different strains and people have different responses.

I believe Cameron said coinfections are the rule not the exception... so remember that our tears are inaccurate and if your symptoms are bad and you have some atypical Lyme symptoms you most likely have some other infection too.

Most of us are positive for EBV, mycoplasma, year overgrowth etc Whig complicates things. If your gut thinks possible Bart or babs and your doctor isn’t treating you I would seek a second opinion. Most of the do it yourself protocols cover Lyme plus coinfections too.

Our tests need so much improvement, i wonder if with the Antabuse its covering the Lyme and babesia so bart can flourish...? I think they believe it covers Lyme abc babesia in some people, some believe possibly Bart, but they’re uncertain.

Do you get the high heart rates, POTS symptoms, intolerance to exercise or exertion?

zhangs bart combo worked well for me . the smaller particles work well . if i recall at full doses a bottle of ea lasts 2weeks . for borrelia i choose bvt after iv abx

I’m glad to hear it worked. If I’m correct you don’t get the herxing/side affects with other protocols...? How long did it take to start noticing a difference? I hear it gets expensive so I’m going to see if they offer a discount through his practice. I’m going to read his book and see if it’s something I’d like to try. Looking at Cowdens too. Buhner is another option but I think I reacted to something ... could have been a filler etc too in the capsule.

Yes, I have mild POTS diagnosed w/ a tilt table test, and severe exercise intolerance. In fact, I commented before on this board about how I think exercise intolerance my first symptom. I used to be a stud soccer player when i was young, then around the age of 15 one summer I could no longer run. It became a huge problem for me. My first real lyme symptoms didnt happen until 30 (7y ago). In my adult years I would train and train and train and barely be able to run 2 miles no matter what i did. Now I realize that was the lyme (or bart).

What about you, exercise intolerance ony after your were bitten? You think this is the lyme or the bart?

I also had a pretty invasive survey may 2018 that I think stirred things up/made my immune system susceptible. I believe bugs that were there took advantage. Plus new ones took over. I was pretty healthy and strong before all this.. I had tons of energy. I am the same age as you. I talked to a friend from Nepal and he said 36 is like 360 degrees everything comes back and bites you. I said well I’m definitely experiencing that. Then I wished for 37 to come... still sick 😬 2020 will bring good luck 🍀🤞🙏

They didn’t test me for mold but my LLMD has been treating me for mold with detox supplements. I definitely have a sensitivity to mold. I do saunas etc too. Drink plenty of lemon water.

I have trouble detoxing too and get overloaded quickly. I agree with you that mold most likely plays a role too. I was also going to try IV glutathione and see how I do.

How was it determined that it was a new infection?
What test did you get?

Girlie: I was negative at first x 2. After 6 months I became IgM positive. Those are the first antibodies produced. Those can stay positive for awhile. My LLMD thinks I had an old infection and a new infection from my symptoms/history. It’s hard to say for sure since tests aren’t the most accurate.

I was very desperate after getting super sick and in the hospital. They thought I was crazy to think Lyme. I feel like going back and showing them my diagnosis.

I did the 28 days of doxy ( has a previous prescription). Herxed. Thought I was dying. Didn’t know what herxing was. After reading about it and completing the course I progressively started getting worse again.

I ordered banderol and cats claw per online protocol. It was rough. I wasn’t able to work, drive, anyways. I just wanted to get well. I pretty much laid down a lot and took meds and herxed. I got back to driving off those two meds in about 2 months. Still had a lot of symptoms, but I was definitely responding. I took some supplements too at the time. Everyone’s different of course. I like the tinctures because it’s easy to control the dose. Banderol is definitely potent. I probably wasn’t detoxing enough either.
I focus on detoxing a lot now. I’m using a different brand right now. It’s working but it’s not as potent. Part of me is inpatient. I have to remember it takes awhile. I feel that what I’m doing is helping but I feel like I should be on a complete protocol. I’m trying to decide between Cowden and Zhang. Since I’m already doing part of Cowdens protocol it would make sense to go that route. This disease is so complicated 🤔
