Chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine Treatment

I took chloroquine years ago, pre-Lyme, to prevent malaria when traveling. The side effects were unpleasant, especially the vivid nightmares. I don't remember the dosage. I have heard of this being used for Babesia but not for Borrelia. Hope someone has more information for you.

Yes I have used Plaquenil in past lyme protocols. And I still have a decent amount of plaquenil in my possession. It is not currently in my protocol.

Judging from the names, I am guessing these are quinoline drugs, like Cipro. Is that correct? I had a reaction years ago to Ciloxan, an abx eye drop. I got a splotchy pink rash and burning sensations on my back the day after I started it. When I called the opthamologist’s office about it, they told me not to take any more and called in a different prescription.

I had allergy patch testing done in 2009 and one of the items I was reactive to was quinoline. I later found out Ciloxan was a quinoline. Anyway, if it’s a quinoline then I guess it would not be a good idea for me to take that.

How would I know if the reaction I had was a bartonella herx vs a drug reaction?

My son was prescribed the Ciloxan drops for an ear infection last year...And I was surprised to read what was in it.

And as Don stated - the drug used for covid 19 isn’t a fluoroquinolone

I guess that in some point of time, could be a couple of weeks, many will be treated for corona virus with plaquenil. Even if corona is the main target, at least many will clear babesia from their bodies, if they eventually have it, i suppose

Thanks dcd. I also found a study that was doing 400 mg 2x as loading dose followed by 200 mg 2x for 4 days (on Dr H facebook page). Looks like a French study is doing 600 mg for 10 days (not sure if that is split or single dose?).

Have used it for my connective tissue issue, its a known anti-rheumatic. Never had a single side effect. I refilled my prescription a few days ago when i heard it might be useful for corona

Funny I didnt see this post till now, after reading up on this for corona. What Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) does is allow zinc to get into the cells. Its ZINC that actually halts corona/COVID from replication.

It wont work for those low in zinc, so of course, if you supplement zinc , the Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) conquers Corona much more successfully. (As Donjr also stated above)
