Hello to this wonderful community, I pray you are all doing well and staying healthy in this time of coronavirus.

I am taking liposomal vitamin C to keep my immunity up.

I had been out of work on and off for most of the past two years or so due to lyme and coinfection. I have started to do better when this virus hit. So I have been out of work for a while.

I am tired of being manipulated financially by the lyme treatment industry. If it weren't for the situation with China, I would perhaps be more interested in looking at bulk dried herbs and making my own capsules.

I know there are a lot of frugal geniuses on this board! There has to be a better way to detox than paying Cowden $40 for a 1 ounce bottle of Burbur.

I was thinking about starting some raised bed gardens for produce, but I am also wondering if it would be possible to grow/dry/process herbs for lyme treatment. Any ideas on the feasability and/or finding out what would grow in my region? Acquiring seeds and or starts?

Let's perhaps mention things like Burbur for detox to start - you know, the things with the insane sticker shock.

I don't see the ethics in charging us exorbitant amounts and others getting rich on our detriment. Anyway, I will keep it positive...looking forward to hearing your thoughts! How can we most affordably acquire lyme disease and coinfection herbal treatments? Also perhaps doing an end-run around any supply chain issues in the process.

Let's see, from what I've heard Japanese knotweed grows just about anywhere. I have an enormous oregano plant, some dandelions, lamb's quarters, and violets (not sure how many of those are medicinal).

There's plenty of mimosa pudica plants for sale online—but they might not be the right variety. Some herbs like lomatium can't be farmed at all. What herbs were you looking to grow?

I think you can easily cultivate boneset and artemesia annua in places like the northeast. Some plants like neem are tropical, though.

Buhner recommends some bulk herb companies (1st Chinese Herbs and Plum Flower brand, I think) for people who want to buy in bulk. I bought a pound of houttuynia, but I never used it because it tastes terrible.

Japanese knotweed does grow everywhere, but it's shockingly invasive and destructive, so it's a great on for wild-harvesting, not for cultivation.

Making your own tinctures from home-grown herbs is a great idea!

I have been absorbed in establishing edible gardens this spring, so I appreciate the inspiration to include some of my favorite medicinal herbs!

I would trust books by Rosemary Gladstar or The Herbal Apothecary for tips on how to make tinctures safely, but there's probably plenty of reliable information online.
