I was diagnosed clinicically with Lyme/Bart/Babs. My Dr has me on a protocol of doxycycline/cefuroxime with alternating pulses of atovaquone and tinidazole. I'm also doing Buhner's herbs for Bart/Babesia.
1) Is this too much (abx+herbs)?
2) Does it seem like a good protocol for those who have treated?
3) I'm currently using no binders - suggestions?
Thanks!

Buhner says that it can be often quite beneficial to use herbs and antibiotics together. That's my intention. Once I get rid of the worst symptoms, I plan on using herbs alone to get to remission - which many people have done.
There's also the added benefit of restoring the immune system with herbs, which antibiotics - long term - can damage.

Some patients simply respond better to ABX, and those that don't need to try herbals. It's good you are trying both in parallel. There is a place for both in your treatment regimen. Do keep track of both your ABX and herbal and OTC supplements throughout the year. They can be itemized as medical expense if you qualify for the deduction.

Whether it's too much depends entirely on how well your body processes things. Start slowly when possible, at low doses; this is easier with herbs because you can take them in a liquid form and start with just a drop if you want. Some people would land in the hospital on only half of that protocol, and others might still be able to function while taking it. Just listen to your body and adjust as needed. Don't push so hard that you destabilize yourself.
If you add binders, then make sure you are not constipated, even for a day. Use Miralax, prunes, magnesium citrate, or whatever it takes to keep your bowels moving fully, regularly. Slowing elimination when treating with so many antimicrobials can be very bad for you. People seem to like activated charcoal, bentonite clay, and chlorella as fairly gentle binders. Some LLMDs just recommend making the majority of your food vegetables, thereby relying on their fiber to bind to toxins and keep things moving.

Doxy/cedtin daily, I'm on mepron twice daily now then will alternate that with the tinidazole every few weeks.
Thank you everyone for the replies!
