LLMD referral Northern Virginia

Hi all,

I am new to this forum, and I am a nursing mother who is dealing with a resurgence in Lyme and coinfections postpartum. (To minimize other discussion, I am familiar with transmission possibilities and have been other under the care of a holistic physician who is familiar with Lyme.) As my previous physician’s practice has gotten too large for the level of care I currently need, I am now in search of an LLMD.

In case there’s anyone here who might be able to help, I have located an LLMD in Northern Virginia that is willing to work with me while nursing. I know it is typical for the cost to be extremely high, but it would be helpful to me to find out if there is anyone who has worked with this practitioner before and would recommend them before I commit. (Please respond off list if you are using a name.) If you have worked with a practitioner in Northern Virginia and you would be willing to state your experience, I would appreciate it. I don’t know how else to go about asking for referrals on this particular individual without sharing the name.

I was also referred to a pediatric LLMD for my children in central Virginia, and I am looking for feedback on that person as well.

Thanks so much for the quick response, Girlie. I think I know the DC practice you are thinking of, and I will follow up. My understanding has been that they were not willing to work with pregnant or nursing moms, but if there is an NP there, perhaps there might be some wiggle room. I am basically looking to bring things back under control, not do a hard-core protocol until after she’s weaned.

I’m going to edit the original text to mention that people are welcome to contact me off list so they can share names. I am assuming there’s a way to do that? I haven’t quite figured out everything on the forum yet. If it is okay to post initials, I can provide those as well for both practitioners I am considering.

Thanks again, Girlie! I have called the J clinic and spoken to two different people, but they haven’t been able to give me an answer yet about nursing moms. My understanding from what others had said was that they frown on pregnancy during treatment, so I assumed that might extend to nursing. My preference would be for a more holistic approach, which is not the impression I’ve gotten from them, but I am also very impressed by all of the positive feedback about their clinic and of course how they seem to be on the forefront of treatment. (If anyone has experiences they want to share, positive or negative about their particular approach, I’d love to hear it.)

The functional/holistic physician I am considering in NOVA, initials RR, looks great but has very limited reviews. The costs are similar to the Jemsek, so I’d like to know if others have done well with this person‘s approach.

The pediatric LLMD, initials RF, was recommended by a highly regarded and well reviewed adult holistic LLMD who will not see me because I’m nursing.
